Bogus Peace Talks! When will GOSL Ever Learn?

Alas, so we had yet another round of "peace talks" and as customary, they amounted to nothing for the GOSL but not for the LTTE. LTTE team, as usual, placed some impossible condition before the GOSL team and ended the talks summarily after having shone in the IC's limelight. As well, LTTE also likely completing all the "transactions" it had intended to attend to in Geneva. These "transactions" were likely to attend to the numerous Swiss bank accounts that the LTTE has set up over the years where monies laundered from the TRO collected "charitable" funds rest.

What's shameful here is how the GOSL gets sucked-into this never ending ruse on the part of the LTTE and their benefactor, the Norwegians.

Initially the GOSL had steadfastly maintained that the "peace talks" would be about "core issues" with a view to bringing a "permanent solution" to this so called ethnic conflict.

If so, then why did GOSL go to Geneva without an agenda?

Any rookie in the business world knows that you do not go for a meeting without an agenda as that is a recipe for disaster. When you attend a meeting without an agenda, not only can you waste valuable time discussing irrelevant topics, but you may be faced with having to dabble in contentious issues that you were totally unprepared to discuss.

Obviously, this basic tenet is lost with the current GOSL. How very pathetic!

In any case, why does anyone need to go to Geneva for "peace talks?" Why not within Sri Lanka? Surely, if the LTTE "delegation" consisting of hardcore terrorists can trust the SLAF to transport them to and from Killinocchi for these talks, then why cannot the LTTE have talks within SL territory? Even if SL territory was deemed just merely "unfriendly" then why not use a venue such as in a neutral location like Maldives instead of going all the way to Geneva?

The problem with MR led GOSL is it does not have the "mojo" to challenge the LTTE biased, corrupted Norwegians when they demand that "peace talks" must be held in Geneva. This is the sad truth. Obviously, even after over 50 years of independence, it is evident that the GOSL has not shed its subservient, servile attitude towards these "white masters" from the west. How very sad!
