Sri Lankan elected to the ACS Branch Executive Committee

Sri Lankan Yasas Vishuddhi Abeywickrama has been elected to the Executive Committee of the Australian Computer Society's (ACS) South Australian Branch. This election occurred at the Annual General Meeting held on Wednesday 25 October 2006. Yasas was involved in ACS activities in Australia whilst professionally working for an enterprise-wide taxation system for RevenueSA as a Business Analyst and election to Executive Committee has provided the opportunity to work for the IT industry at large in a more active way.

ACS is a recognised association for Information & Communications Technology (ICT) professionals, attracting a large and active membership from all levels of the ICT industry. ACS members work in all areas of business and industry, government and academia. ACS plays major role is Sri Lankan ICT education sector as well. The ACS is one of the largest computer societies in the world. It plays an active role in international affairs and represents Australia in the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), and the South-East Asian Regional Computer Confederation (SEARCC).

Yasas is a young ACS member with professional expertise in both Business and IT domains. He is an International award winner for excellent performances from Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and holds an honours degree in Computer Science from the University of Colombo. He is also a researcher and an article writer on IT related areas and has authored a book on IT, which was published in Sri Lanka earlier this year. Yasas has working experience in the USA, UK, Sri Lanka and Australia.
