UNP MUST ACCEPT TOTAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR SRI LANKAS CURRENT WOES.A.A.M.NIZAM MATARA.The treacherous UNP which is unable to keep its own house in order, which hoodwinked the Colombo city folks in the Municipal Elections and denied them a sagacious administration, attempts to beguile the masses alleging that the President and the government are responsible for what it calls lack of security in the country. An idiotic shoddy statement by a despondent gang uttered in sheer desperation. People of this country are not babes to gulp these puerile assertions as majority of the masses have lived, suffered, experienced and endured with UNPs State Terrorism and LTTEs Tiger Terrorism throughout their life, and are well aware of the causes and the viciousness of these twin menaces. The UNP that had a despotic rule by eliminating political opponents, destroying democracy and murdering the southern youth for a period of 19 years and for a subsequent two years of treachery was the cause for Sri Lankas all ills and tribulations. The grand national party established by the patriots such as D.S.Senanayake, S.W.R.D.Bandaranaike, F.R.Senanayake etc., are today in the hands of power hungry, visionless, treacherous, plunderers. The UNP of D.S.Senanayke was dead and has been buried long ago and in its place there exists a Union of Notorious Plunderers calling themselves as UNPers. Many UNPers and the urbanite political illiterates have a passion of blaming the late Prime Minister Mr. S.W.R.D.Bandaranaike and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party with responsibility for Sri Lankas ethnic crisis. Nevertheless, these illiterates cannot hide the fact that the Vellala
Tamil leaderships who inhumanly oppressed the other Tamil communities
as low caste disliked the majority Sinhala community emerging as the
rulers of this nation. This state of mind of the Vellala Tamils is well
enshrined in the statement that had been made by the Malaysian born
Tamil chauvinist S.J.V.Chelvanayagam that Sinhalese rulers are
not big enough to rule the Tamils(Page 128 Tamil Nationalism
1947 It was vicious chauvinist Ramanathans, Ponnambalams and Chelvanayagam of the Tamil Mahajana Sabha who saw the seeds of communalism in Sri Lanka and was responsible for Sri Lankas present misfortune. Chelvanayagam speaking in the House of Representatives on 26th November 1947 advocated that in the event of Sri Lanka (Ceylon) gaining independence from the British Empire, Tamils should secede from the rest of the country. He urged the Britishers to annex the Tamil areas with the Indian State of Madras. Although it is out of context, it is opportune to remind that as per our historical records J.R.Jayawardene had urged the Britishers to declare Sri Lanka (Ceylon) as a State of India when granting independence. Who was responsible for the first Tamil-Sinhala communal riots in the aftermath of the Bandaranaike-Chelvanayagam Pact? It was J.R.Jayawardene who organized and led the notorious Pada Yatra to Kandy and espouse communal hatred between the Tamils and Sinhala people. In the 1977 General Election the UNP promised in its Manifesto that
the so-called grievances of the Tamils will be addressed and solved.
Majority of the Tamils voted for it and what they got in return? In July 1983, prominent Ministers of the government led thugs and hooligans of the Party in violence against the innocent Tamil population resident in Colombo and other major cities, killing many, injuring several hundred and displacing thousands and damaging and destroying millions worth property. The President remained silent and was missing for three days until the pogrom was over. This incident led to a massive exodus of Tamil professionals, as well as skilled and unskilled Tamils along with their families and they became the main funding source for terrorism against Sri Lanka and its population. The fallacious foreign policy adopted by J.Rs UNP government created apprehensions in India on its security concerns and that forced and encouraged Indians to arm, train and strengthen the terrorist organizations, and even to the launch the ignominious Parippu Invasion of 1987 and force J.R.Jayawardene to merge Northern and Eastern provinces against the will of the people in the Eastern Province. President Premadasa misled by Balasingham commanded over 800 Police personnel who were serving in the North and East to surrender to the terrorist outfit for their safe passage out of those areas. Their compliance with the Presidents order resulted in marching these Police officers into the jungle with their hands tied behind and killing them by indiscriminate shooting. Our gallant generals, General Denzil Kobbekaduwa and a group of high ranking officers who were rendering invaluable service and who were a great asset to the nation and threat to the terrorist enemy were killed under mysterious circumstances. Instead of defeating the terrorist enemy President Premadasa strengthened
them by providing Sri Lankan Rupees 20 million in cash, 500 T-56 machine
guns, 500 AK-47 machine guns, 5000 Chinese grenades, 200,000 rounds
of live ammunition, 20 jeeps and 200 tonnes of cement. Following two mysterious meetings, one in Singapore between Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe and the LTTE shipping agent Gnanakoon and the other between Mr. Milinda Moragoda and Balasingham in London, the PA government was toppled by luring several Ministers and Parliamentarians, and paving the way for the Batalanda fame Ranil Wickremasinghe to get installed as the Prime Minister. If the damage caused to the nations security and integrity by the treacherous rule of Ranil and his cohorts did take place in some other country the people would have certainly revolted against them and punished them through uncivilized means. As the list of treacherous acts done by Ranil Wickremasinghe and his cohorts are a very long one, only the major acts are given underneath to save space and time.
The UNP should accept total responsibility for all the crimes committed by the terrorist outfit in the name of the so-called peace- façade and for the deterioration of the security situation in the country. The UNP which has completely lost the trust of the masses, for the purpose of political expediency is making mischievous and despicable efforts to terrify and mislead the people by spreading false rumours and blame the government despite its magnificent efforts to contain the terrorists. Recent telephone call campaign to schools was one of such vicious acts of the UNP which needs to be condemned by everyone. Playing politics with the life of innocent children is a disgraceful inhuman act. |
