DO NOT ALLOW THE TERRORISTS TO REGAIN STRENGTH

A.A.M.NIZAM MATARA.

Sri Lanka is a unique and strange country in one aspect. In any other country it is hard and impossible to find its own enemies roaming freely in the country and making statements and pronouncements publicly and shamelessly in support of its enemies and censoring and criticizing the legitimate government and its security forces for taking steps against the enemy and for protecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country. Our gallant security forces that chased out the terrorist gang from Sampur and liberated Sampur and the adjoining areas that posed a great threat to the nation should have been indisputably admired and hailed by each and every peace loving citizen. On the contrary, the so-called intelligentsia bonded to conservatism, the dollar vultures aspiring for a protracted conflict situation, and the reactionary political opportunists, before and after the Sampur liberation, continue to criticize and warn the government and the security forces about grave repercussions and demand that all military actions should be ceased and negotiations should be commenced.

The bonded intelligentsia some of whom despite their lofty status even go to the gutter level of calling the internationally accepted ruthless terrorists as “insurgents” and the others of their ilk should understand that there is no ethnic conflict or “insurgency” as they
try to project in Sri Lanka. It is only a problem related to a gang
of terrorists, after overtaking a political struggle launched by some chauvinist Tamil politicians, trying to carve out a fascist State in the Northern and Eastern provinces of Sri Lanka through terrorism and intimidation.

If there is an ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka as they profess it would encompass all the Tamils and all of them will be the natural supporters and sympathizers of the cause and they should enthusiastically get involved in the aggression against the Sri Lankan State as a single body similar to what happened in many African and European countries. Tamil people should not be taking the advantage of the first available opportunity to leave the areas under the jackboots of the LTTE and seek green pastures abroad or settle down in other areas of Sri Lanka intermingling with other communities. How can the Tamil population in Colombo and many of its suburbs swell so high in the recent years exceeding the population ratios of other communities if there is such an ethnic conflict? If there is an ethnic conflict how can Maheswaran get nearly 58000 preferential votes and Mano Ganeshan get over 51000 votes in the Sinhala speaking Colombo district and get appointed themselves as Parliamentarians of one of the major national political parties?

Strangely, the Sinhala and Muslim communities tolerate the treacherous Sinhala and Muslim cynics who betray their communities and the nation and sing hosannas for the protection and promotion of the terrorist enemy and their fascist cause. This freedom and tolerance, unfortunately, is totally non existent for the Tamils. They only have the liberty and the right to praise the terrorists and criticize the Sri Lankan government and the security forces. If they become vocal against the terrorist hierarchy what happened to Mahattaya and the brave man from Kilinochchi who voted in the last Presiddential election would befall them too. Even the Tamil Parliamentarians including UNPs Maheswaran, Mano Ganeshan and the recent Ministerial- plants from the hill country cannot and would not be tolerated if they become critical of the terrorist gang or its activities.

During the last 23 years of terrorist aggression, we have witnessed that whenever there was a setback for the terrorist gang militarily they were protected from defeat and given a respite by alien powers or pro-alien traitors in the country to regain strength and become a formidable force. In this instance too, there are loud cries from many quarters that further military exercises should be ceased and steps should be taken to commence negotiations.

Immediately after the terrorists got beaten with over 750 dead and over 1000 injured, its bereaved main foreign promoter Norway’s Ambassador in Sri Lanka has visited Kilinochchi and given an opportunity for the champion of hollow-threats Tamilselvan to make a critical statement on the government and our gallant security forces.
This ex-barber and the limping terrorist says, that “Colombo’s invasion and occupation of LTTE-held territory has put an end to peaceful ways of stabilising the 2002 Ceasefire Agreement.” He cautions that "There can be no efforts at peaceful resolution [to the conflict] unless Sri Lanka withdraws its military forces”.

The bonded-intelligentsia, the dollar vultures and the political opportunist who were utterly dismayed by the success of the security forces and were without a springboard to launch their attack on the government and the security forces and promote the terrorists would cling to this statement in their frantic effort to persuade the government to abandon the current liberation exercises.

Our dedicated patriotic gallant soldiers who primarily hail from the patriotic rural poor families and who were caged and kept their hands tied all these years achieved this great feat under the able guidance of the tri-forces Commanders who are determined and devoted to protect and safeguard the territorial integrity and the sovereignty of Sri Lanka. Our gallant soldiers lost 130 of their colleagues in this great expedition. The whole nation owes their highest respect to these great fallen heroes who laid down their precious youth to protect the nation, perhaps even widowing their young spouses and orphaning small children.

The victory achieved by our forces represents the mandate given by the patriotic masses to President Rajapakse in the last Presidential election, to defeat terrorism and safeguard the unity and the territorial integrity of the nation. Contrary to various baseless opinions being expressed in the reactionary circles even if the people of the North and the East who are under the jackboots of the terrorists were allowed to cast their votes freely, they would have joined their compatriots in the other parts of the country in electing the candidate who stood for elimination of terrorism and safeguarding the territorial integrity of the nation, since they eagerly aspire for an end to terrorist oppression and live as free and independent
citizens.

The government should not allow foreign powers or accomplices of reactionary vested interests to once again nullify the great success achieved by the gallant security forces and resolutely proceed with the current expeditions until all the terrorists are wiped out from the Trincomalee district and it is made a terrorist free district, and to be followed the same in other affected districts.
