SHOW NO MERCY TO TERRORISTS – THE CHARACTERISTICS THEY CANNOT UNDERSTAND.

There had been angry reaction for President Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse’s magnanimity in helping the Pacha Master (Daya Master) of the terrorist outfit to be brought to Apollo Hospital under military escort for getting emergency treatment. There is absolute justification for people’s angry reaction to this gesture. The terrorist Daya Master, the Geobells of the LTTE was mainly responsible for LTTE’s malicious propaganda against the Sri Lankan government and the people, denial of its all and every atrocities including suicide bombings, and misinformation campaign through the terrorist media arm to whitewash its crimes. The terrorist outfit has reciprocated to President’s humanitarian gesture by attempting to murder Minisger Rambukwella, expressing gratitude in the terrorist language.

President Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse is well-known for his kindness, and for showing mercy and compassions to everyone alike, even to his foes. As a human rights activist during the UNP’s Beeshana Yugaya he rendered an enormous service to the youth of this country by struggling day and night to rescue the innocent youth from the death trap of UNP’s State sponsored executioners. I have a personal experience of getting one such youth, a Sinhala youth getting released. When the boy’s mother, an elderly woman from Thihagoda, Matara known to our family, after a meticulous day and night search for several days visited Mr. Rajapakse and told him that the boy was reported to be in the Ranna military camp, he personally took her to the Ranna Camp and got the boy released.

The crime committed by this youth, a small-time vegetable vendor, was to visit the Pola in Ranna while holding an ID with a Thihagoda address at a time when a Goni-Billa inspection was carried out in Ranna. The body of this boy was full of ghastly torture marks caused by placing hot iron bars all over his body. It took months the wounds to heal after his release. The photograph of this boy could have been one among those hundreds of photographs presented by Mr. Rajapakse to the Human Rights Commission. This boy, now a happily married man, his aged mother and his siblings remain ever thankful to Mr. Rajapakse for his life saving deed.

However, President Rajapakse should never expect such gratefulness from the terrorist outfit. There is no meaning for civilised expressions such as humanitarian, gratefulness, thankfulness, compassion, kindness and mercy in the terrorist lexicon. Their vocabulary is limited and restricted to a few words such as murder, kill, destroy, cheat, rob, threat and lie.

That is why the terrorist leader Prabhakaran murdered the Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Ghandhi despite his life was saved by Indian doctors in Tamil Nadu when he was critically injured and smuggled to Tamil Nadu in early 1980s. That is why Prabhakaran planted Babu in President Premadasa’s residence and murdered him in return for his generosity of providing cash, weapons and material to save him and his organisation from the IPKF. That is why terrorist Soosai recently attempted to murder 700 of our unarmed soldiers in the sea after his life was saved by surgery in Singapore facilitated by the former President Mrs. Chandrika Kumaratunga. The list is unending. India has understood this and that is why they refused to help Balasingham when he sought facilities for medical treatment in India.

The terrorist outfit’s ungratefulness to the magnanimity of the President was clearly evidenced through the manner it was reported in the terrorist media. TamilNet widely believed as its main website completely blacked out this event. It was a non event for the Tamil Net. Similarly the terrorist websitesTamil Eelam News Services, Tamil Editors, and Webeelam and the daily Thinakkural failed to make any mention about this item. Tamil Editors Website, despite this magnanimity continued to carry hateful news items referring to our soldiers as “occupation soldiers” and condemning their activities in its continuous bid to sow hatred.

The pro-LTTE daily “Uthayan” gave prominence to treacherous Ranil’s proposed visit to India saying that he is visiting New Delhi to explain about the UNP’s inability to work with President Rajapakse and inform about his party’s position on the peace process. What a shame!
Is UNP a party under the command of Indian politicians or a party of the Sri Lankans? Only the second item was about bringing Daya Master to Colombo for treatment.

The Website Nitharsanam, considered as a very authentic terrorist website under the command of Pottu Amman, and financed by Norway, took a different turn. It showed three photographs of protestors of the National Movement Against Terrorism (NMAT) in front of Apollo Hospital demanding for the arrest of Daya Master. It captioned the photographs as “TERRORISTS OF THE BUDDHIST MOVEMENT PROTEST IN FRONT OF APOLLO DEMANDING THE ARREST OF DAYA MASTER – A GOVERNMENT INSTIGATION”.
Instant response for the governmeent’s magnanimity! This is the authentic voice of the terrorist LTTE.

Earlier it carried a news item blaming JVP and saying that Wimal Weerawansa has strongly criticised the help given to bring Daya Master for treatment in Apollo.

It is true that as human beings we are bound to help each other. However, the acts and deeds of the terrorist LTTE had clearly shown on umpteen occasions that they are a species of brutes in human form. Therefore, it is utterly foolish to show kindness to these non-humans and expect some kind of similar reciprocations or expect some form of change in their behaviour. They are born to kill and get killed. They have not changed even by an iota since the day they exposed their true character at Thimpu in 1985.

The government got only humiliated by venturing to help them. It also unnecessarily earned the scorn of the masses who are prepared to face any sacrifice to eradicate the terrorist menace. As it is being demanded by the National Movement Against Terrorism (NMAT), and it is undoubtedly endorsed by the majority of the masses, it is the responsibility of the Police to arrest this terrorist and take suitable legal action against his alleged crimes. He can of course be released if proved innocent.

This is a good lesson for President and the government.
