Does "Humanitarian" Mean Anything to You Daya Master?

"Humane" means kind-hearted & merciful, while "Humanitarian" means promoting human welfare and reduction of suffering. These are the definitions give to the above words in the dictionary. We talk of these words today because an inhumane terrorist has suddenly suffered a human problem- Cardiac Arrest and needs urgent medical attention and probable surgery (which may be required).

All inhumane terrorists of the likes of Prabhakaran, Thamilselvam, Anton Balasingham and Daya Master and their top level heirachy will all face human problems in their lifetime- just like Daya Master in the current context. So do all the ordinary Sinhala, Tamil & Muslim communities who live under the inhumane atrocities of the LTTE terrorists and have lived so for 30 years. What humanitarian treatment do they get at the hands of terrorists? A stab with the bayonet, thrust into cauldrons of boiling oil, gun shots to the mouth, a gun shot to the heart or claymore bombs with plenty of "anti-human propaganda" to brainwash those Sri Lankans living under their terror!

However, "poor" Velayutham Dayanidhi alias Daya Master suffers Cardiac Arrest and his family and his terrorist outfit appeal to the SLMM whom they have insulted recently, to request the GOSL to give humanitarian assistance to transport patient & family to Colombo for hospitalization and medical attention. How many families up in the North and East have had the good fortune to be escorted with security protection for leading terrorized lives under the LTTE? However, with all the arrogance of the LTTE our GOSL and President have offered such humanitarian assistance to Daya Master because- today he is a sick man. All citizens of this country deserve emergency treatment in any of our hospitals being citizens of a unitary and sovereign state. However, Daya Master's family has opted for "the luxury " to enter a private hospital- let us hope that the GOSL does not agree to foot the bill- like any of us who enter a private hospital- his family must foot the bill.

Having said that, we do wonder how many of our Armed Forces have suffered inhumane treatment at the hands of these terrorists- within the recent 5 months, Our Army Commander Sarath Fonseka who was fortunate to escape death but Maj.Gen. Parami Kulatunga was not so fortunate. Apart from this, within these 5 months (let us not mention the atrocities of 30 years) nearly 900 people which includes service personnel and civilians have died at the hands of LTTE terrorists. When committing these crimes, do they even bat an eyelid to think- "these people also have family & kith and kin who love them just as much as our families are dear to us" -NEVER. When LTTE chopped off the hand of the one Tamil who dared to disobey them and cast his vote, did they consider that this man would not have a means to support his family in the future? When they stabbed through the heart 12 year old S. Sathyam because he refused to join the children's brigade- did these brutal terrorists ever think " this is also the flesh and blood of some other parents - just like us?" When they blasted the bus load of 70 odd passengers in Kebethigollawa killing 64 persons which included women, children and a Buddhist Monk- was there any "humane "feeling in them except utter contempt and hatred?

After committing such atrocities, Daya Master's family & the terrorists appeal for humanitarian assistance? Shows what hypocrites they are. Our GOSL has granted that humanitarian assistance requested. But our soldiers out there facing the atrocities and the agonies of the LTTE hostility cannot be happy about this development. Those young men are out there risking their lives to protect The Mother Land" and are performing their duties while terrorist leaders are getting VIP treatment for " being terrorists!"

There is a saying that the " Leopard never changes it's spots" or " Even at 60 a monkey never walks the ground". We do hope that after receiving humanitarian assistant from our democratically elected GOSL, both sayings mentioned above will be proven wrong and that Daya Master and his family will realize that their terrorist campaign has made the majority Tamil, Sinhala and Muslim communities suffer for too long & that it is high time to consider laying down their arms and leading peaceful lives.

This will bring so much happiness to the ordinary families of this country. Every citizen has a right to lead a normal and peaceful life in this country sans terror at the hands of the LTTE!
