We are different birds with different feathers.

Western powers are like the birds of the same feather flocking together. EU will believe the Norwegians who are of the same feather.

By Charles Perera

It is really worth kicking the Norwegians over board, and make them persona non grata to our Island. It is really worth tearing off the CFA, burn it and put its ash in the drain and pi..sed over it. It is really worth shouting back at the co-chairs and ask them to keep their advise to themselves, keep their “money” as well, and mind their business and get off our backs. It is really worth asking Yasushi Akashi of Japan, to get lost, without interfering into out affairs. It is really worth asking the errant NGOs to pack up their bags and leave our shores, along with their vociferous Sri Lankan lackeys. It is really worth asking Indian government to get down the high horse, and cultivate Asian simplicity and try to be a good neighbour.

But unfortunately we are a small country and bound in a political power trap. We have to get along with big powers as it is they who seem to hold reins and decide things for us. It is no different from the debt trap into which we were bound , keeping us within the Western orbit, when there were two competing powers the Capitalism lead by America and Socialism lead by USSR.

The Aid that was given by the developed countries then were mere loans, and with the WMF as the their arm kept us buried in debt, with no possibility of development as we wanted, as we had to keep within the terms spelt out by the WMF. Now there are no competing powers and the unitary power structure of to-day still finds ways and means to keep us where we are not allowing us to rise above from where they had kept us.

What is important today for the big powers is to get together , and keep poor developing countries under their “steel boots”, now with soft soles. Even the terrorists in developing countries have a difference. The terrorists in Western countries, are stamped upon, there is no dialogue with them, they are good to be hunted and killed and burnt out. But terrorists in our developing countries are, not terrorists, but rebels with whom the governments should negotiate.

Western powers are like the birds of the feather flocking together. The Norwegians, misused the confidence we reposed on them, and now overtly take sides with the LTTE terrorists. But yet the European community will still listen to the Norwegians who are of the same feather than the , unreliable black governments. Ulf Henricsons statement, that the Government Soldiers killed the 17 aid workers is like gospel truth to the Europeans (including Yasushi Akashi,) than the assurance given by government.

EU has its discrimination against all those governments of black people. EU will take the word of the Norwegian Solheim as correct, however much the government would say, that it had not been consulted by the Norwegians about a place and date for negotiations with the LTTE terrorists. For
the EU the matter is settled, again the question of the birds of the
feather.

The Norwegians could tell the worst lie and get off with it. We cannot, because we are a small developing country , different birds with different feathers.
