Real Pointers Towards The Well Being Of A Terrorist Free Sri Lanka!© Hindsight by Sarath Kumara For LankaWebOctober 15th 2006As expected, in the heat of battle and the panic of retreating, the LTTE appear to be now trying a different tactic to mislead the world, namely a psychological one laced with misrepresented numbers and diabolical innuendo that they appear to be on an even keel with the Sri lankan Armed forces when they are in reality the furthest from it.The truth of the matter according to very reliable sources is that the hospitals in the North and East where the LTTE have recently been decimated through military operations are overflowing with injured terrorists and the concept that the LTTE could gain the upper hand or be on equal bargaining terms with the Government of Sri Lanka a blatant fabrication which needs to be disregarded as much as prioritising the need for the Armed Forces to press home the advantage towards routing the terrorists despite their falsely proclaimed status. The are a beaten lot running for cover and as recently reported, Muhamalai could be their last hurrah where they appear to have exhausted much of their resources both in manpower and armament and they must never be permitted to raise their heads as an insurgent entity if this can be accomplished within the parameters of military and administrative means notwithstanding the hooing and haaing of the international community!. There are no euphemistic connotations in the saying " Please finish what was started, else we have to face the roller-coaster rides again!" To the contrary it is a harsh reality that needs to be prioritised in the best interests of Sri Lanka where any negotiations should be done with peace loving Tamils of Sri Lanka after the LTTE terrorists are taken to task, their operations dismantled and their objectives negated. They neither have any right to any demands they say are legitimately theirs as they are not a legitimate entity despite the Sri Lankan Administration's somewhat curious recognition of them nor should they be tolerated as a legal entity due to their terrorist identity while considering the harm they have done to the nation including the havoc they have wreaked on people of their own ethnicity! Most of the reports from areas such as Kilinochchi indicate that the extent of recent damage the LTTE have suffered in their confrontations with the SLAF have been devastating and credible and perhaps a time appropriate for mopping up operations by the SLAF which would include flushing out any remaining pockets of resistance , reclaiming any territories annexed illegitimately by the LTTE and disrupting all their means to continue their insurgency. Excogitating an effective and succesful military strategy towards continuing with the intention of ending Sri Lanka's terrorist scourge at this juncture of Sri Lanka's terrorist problem is all important and goes beyond all the dialogues and meaningless verbiage of Peace Talks which had merits of yore as the excitement of a resolution seemed likely but appear to be a thing of the past and perhaps a wasted effort as the LTTE do not seem to have the capacity to negotiate peace! If they do in fact whimper about the need for talks it has to be interpreted an attempt to buy time and lick their wounds rather than attempt in all sincerity to show faith towards the Government's overtures towards peace which the more discerning now know as a ruse which has always worked even superficially towards the terrorists advantage. Logically this is true of most terrorist organizations cornered with nowhere to run with some exceptions such as in the case of the IRA in the UK who fought for their freedom with honor and integrity and a concerted resilience towards sustaining the Irish people and were never really subjugated by the British Army as the LTTE are today in Sri Lanka! In that instance negotiations between sane, rational and comprehending human beings proved successful, objectives denounced and arms decommissioned. Case in point being the disparity in sincerities and the non comparisons of identity where the former truly represented the oppressed Irish people and the latter can only be identified as partisan, sectarian, stop at nothing, unrelenting terrorists whose concocted plan to divide Sri Lanka through insurgency and terror towards their own puerile means has failed miserably and are presently struggling for their own survival and have been eventually rejected and repudiated by most of the people they claimed to represent based upon their own mendacities and ruthless modus operandi. What honor can the LTTE ever claim in the face of all the wretched indignities they have perpetrated even on their own ethnic group regardless of the rest of Sri Lanka and hence what rights towards their continued existence? An exerpt from a recent submission to Lanka Web courtesy of Mr.Dilrook Kannangara captioned "Requires Immediate Attention" quoted here suggests that " It is also a fact that an eerie calm has descended on the war front in stark contrast to a battle with a clear outcome. Had the LTTE become stronger after the battle, they would take back the ground lost in September without fail. In the absence of all these vital signs it is obvious that terrorists are unable to keep up with their casualties. The recent military offensive, to say the least was not advantageous to the legitimate security forces of Sri Lanka compared to victories in Sampur, etc. But what should be done next ? Should we allow terrorists to turn the tide? Judging by the primary strategy used by terrorists around the world namely, taking the upper hand in a battle and then sustaining it with all available terror tactics? The LTTE are likely to use the latest clash in their favour. This is the reason why military analysts say in any war on terrorists, the legitimate armies should win all the battles (or substantially all). In plain terms, as long as the army is not winning they are losing. Let it be Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Somalia or Chechnya this is the underlying rule. We should not forget how difficult it was to come to the commanding position over the overall security situation in Sri Lanka. It took planned and hard retaliations on terrorists to keep them at bay. Its the responsibility of the armed forces not to lose it and regain the upper hand both actual and perceived. Days are running out and October 28th still looms large and ugly in the horizon. If no effective action is taken to bring back our commanding position of winning all battles (as has been for the last few months), this type of occurrences will be repeated every time peace talks are attempted. And thats not all ! Encouraged by the complacencies of the armed forces, terrorists will fight to take back lost ground in terms of land mass, local and international reckoning, arms procurement and logistics." end quote where the profound reality of these words are indicative of what may be an imperative need towards upholding and substantiating, as the well being of Sri Lanka and her people non-aligned to terrorism as a means towards their survival and existences may very well depend on them!
