What if the army stops fighting, leaving guns in storage ? Will the terrorists do like wise, and shake hands with the army ?

By Charles Perera

Devolve political power to terrorists, suggested by Mano Ganeshan. It is like asking a pyromaniac to guard the fire.

The death of about 133 soldiers in the Mahamulai front was sad. The army first reported 78 soldiers were missing of them 74 bodies were handed over to the army. The question arises as to how they got lost, it is more probable that they were taken alive by the terrorists and returned later dead. ! The terrorists are quite cable of that they have done that in the past with the police officers that surrendered to them.

However in death all become equal and there is always sadness whether it be our soldiers dying fighting to keep Sri Lanka united , or the LTTE terrorists fighting cadre who die misled by ruthless maniacs dangling the carrot of Eelam before them.

The security forces should now be cautious as the fighting capacity of the LTTE terrorists have dwindled, and they may now resort to other traps and
ruses to cause serious damage to soldiers and material. The capture of
Elephent Pass and Poonarin will have serious consequences to the terrorists cooped up in their underground bunker. Therefore all the remaining terrorist fighting cadre may be lined up in that area.

If they would really keep their rendezvous as planned in Switzerland with the government peace delegation, the terrorists may want to manoeuvre some spectacular adventures to regain their lost pride if they still have some remaining. However, there are from time to time on the fence torch bearers writing under pen names, who may perhaps infuse some of the lost pride to the terrorists. With them there is no reason to take verbal arms as the terrorists are a greater danger we have to fight and leave no opportunity for our future generations to inherit an Eelam through a break away Federal state.

Those who ask for a Federal constitution with an undivided North-East, may have ulterior motives, and therefore, it is a danger to avoid at the out set if one desires, one Sri Lanka one Nation. LTTE terrorists are very sharp. Has any body put the question as to why the LTTE terrorists also favour a Federal Constitution.? One has not still forgotten, that in their visits to Oslo the terrorists also made a tour of the European countries with a federal set up. The government of Switzerland laid the red carpets for them! In that situation Federalism may turn out to be a Pandora s box , left to future generations

The Anti-war camp led by Kumar Rupasinghe and Venerable Madampagama Assaji, Wickramabahu Karunaratne, Rajitha Senaratne ( the President to note before giving him a Ministry !), and Mano Ganeshan( who is said to be pro-terrorists to the hilt,) have turned a new page with Sama Bana, to make Dhamma desana to the government to stop defensive military action.

What would happen if the army says it will not fight and leave the guns in storage ? Will the terrorists do like wise, and come out to shake hands with the army and invite each other for a glass of beer ?

The Allies of the Second world war would be happy of the thought that they did not have anti-war heroes like Kumar Rupasinghe and his band then.
However, if they had gone on the streets of London with an anti-war demonstration, the worst would have been that they were locked up by the police. But if they did that in Hitler s Berlin, they would have been transported straight away to the gas chambers of Austwitch. Therefore, sama bana in Jaffna and Trincomalee may still be safe with the army and the security forces in place, but sama bana in Kilinotchi before Prabhakaran may not turn out to be healthy for the Venerable Priest.

Mano Ganeshan, has aid that it is unacceptable the government imposing pre-conditions for the LTTE when they were ready for peace talks on October 28 and 29, and adds, that it was ridiculous that the government wants to take up for discussion seven core issues namely, democracy, multi-party system, pluralism, human rights, child recruitment, development of the North and East and devolution, with the Tamil Tigers at the peace talks.

And having a intelligence block, he had said that, democracy, multi-party systems , pluralism, human rights child recruitment for war, development of North and East have no place in a peace agenda. He said those things could be discussed after devolving power to the Tamil areas.

Mano Ganeshan wants to devolve power over to the gun toting terrorists, without any reserve. Even an idiot with a peanut for a brain will not say things like that. We should free the animal from mental ailments first before giving it responsibility. To devolve administrative power to them now is like asking a pyromaniac to guard the fire.
