Immediate Action Required - Part 2

Dilrook Kannangara

As expected the terrorists have struck again. It is only ordinary that terrorists around the world treats an apparent non-victory for the security forces as their victory. It was only few months ago that Hizbulla called it a victory when the powerful Israeli army left Lebanon. Same will be the fate of the coalition forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Now it is clear that the LTTE is also riding the tide - without any fear or hesitation - after the fierce battle in Muhamalai few days ago.

Atleast now the government forces should start a strong retaliation campaign. Otherwise terror attacks will only increase to the lead up to the 'peace' talks. And the terrorists will be able to terrorise the government and the military into submission. As I pointed out in a previous article, it will be difficult to get back to the commanding position that the security forces enjoyed a week ago.

We are now witnessing more than a reversal of all the recent military wins. Please start the retaliation strong and soon. Terror should not be allowed to overtake us; it should be stopped at all costs.
