The Christian Conspiracy Against the Maha Sangha :

R Fernando Negombo Sri Lanka

I give below a translation of a document formulated by the Christian Churches during February 2004 when Buddhist expressed their intention to enter parliamentary politics because of the unfair treatment meted out to Buddhists and Maha Sangha in this country which is considered to be a Dharmadveepa where the composition of all other religions together is a mere 20-25% as against Buddhists which is 75% of the population. Of the above 20-25% only 7.5% are Christian but they deem it their right to control the 75%, which is the majority of this country!

If Christian powers can break the backbone of our national heritage which happens to be Buddhism and The Maha Sangha, then it will be very easy for them to destroy everything of value in our society. To achieve this end, they will not stop at anything. Below you will find a good example of how conspiracies work through the Church in our country:

(translation from Sinhala into English )

“ In The Kingdom of God “

Meeting held in a Christian church in Negombo on 27th February 2004 where 42 Christian /Catholic Priests participated.

Targeted group- Buddhist monks and Buddhist Shrines

1. After the death of Gangodawila Soma Thero
there is a clear threat from Buddhist clergy to our mighty God’s kingdom. The support they are gaining is ever increasing. While there is a possibility that they could become a political force against us, it is necessary to stop it now itself. Before they can organize themselves and gain political power, through the Malwatte-Asgiriya Maha Nayakes we should obtain statements to say “Politics is not suitable for Buddhist Monks” and publicize it through the public media. For this Rs.50million will be set aside.

2. The parliamentarians we have elected through
the grace of God should oppose all Bills that will be introduced in parliament to foster and promote Buddhism. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that all excess lands owned by Buddhist temples must be confiscated by the State (taken under government control).

3. Excess lands belonging to Buddhist temples
should be given to the government for government development projects.

4. A heavy tax must be levied on Temples.

5. All financial aid given by Ministry of
Buddhasasana to temples must be stopped forthwith.

6. Must bring in Bills in parliament to ban the
use of temple premises for Sinhala National movements.

7. Make lucrative payments to those Sinhalese
Intellectuals and Buddhist monks of high standing who oppose Sinhala Nationalist programs and get them to make statements against the monks and publicize through the media.

8. Get the Catholic parliamentarians to become
dayakes of various temples and ensure that Sinhala
Buddhist activities are weakened through them.

9. To utilize well-known Sinhala Buddhist
scholars to speak out against well known active Buddhist monks and divert the attention of the Buddhist public to other areas- for this, they must be paid handsomely.

10. A massive anti- Buddhist clergy campaign must be started

11. Carry on a campaign to vilify Sihala Urumaya leaders by making public that they are paid stooges of the LTTE and NGOs.

12. At village level, to carry on a campaign to say that Buddhist monks must not get involved in politics,
at the same time to target the vast Buddhist
majority who rose up due to the death of Ven. Soma that much harm will be done to Buddhism if Buddhist monks enter politics. In doing so, to divert the campaign in such a manner that it will not turn against the Kingdom of God.

13. By establishing Inter-Religious Peace Committees
it will be possible to reduce the impact of Sinhala Buddhist programs.

14. By bringing in a special law, to ban Buddhist monks from entering parliament through politics, thereby weakening the Buddhist forces.

15. For our own protection we should organize people to attack our churches and give international publicity to say that influential monks are behind such attacks.

16. Create religious tension by attacking Muslim mosques and Buddhist temples and through such activities pressurize the police to arrest the Chief Monks of village temples and give adequate publicity in the international media.

17. Those parliamentarians who entered parliament through the Kingdom of God must not in anyway, support any Buddhist activities.

18. To bring disrepute to the yellow robe, to dress men in yellow robes and get them to misbehave in public places and create a public revulsion towards Buddhist monks.

19. To instill fear in the monks who live in temples located in the north and eastern regions and get them to abandon their temples. This will pave the way for establishing the Kingdom of God with the villagers of the area.

20. For the purpose of implementing the 19 point
program mentioned above, an allocation of Rs.200million has been released.

Apart from the above, all around us we see the scheming nature of Christian conspiracies. 95% of the media and press channels, of this country are controlled by Christians. Any program or article which will be a disadvantage or point a finger at Christian scheming or interference will be suppressed forthwith and not given publicity. On the other hand, a minute shortcoming on the part of the Maha Sangha will be given front page coverage!
