Luckiest Person On earth

Lucky Seneviratne New Jersey.

Did any one of you recently think who might be the luckiest people on earth? Would it be Bill Gates? Or could it be the Walmart heirs, The Sam Walton family?Or could it be somebody from the not so developed world like Vietnam, China or even the war torn and devastated little Sri Lanka. It did not take me long to realize the honourable winner is from the Liitle Island of Sri Lanka.

A recent news article mentioned that the former Sri Lankan president lucky Chandrika Bandaranaike is holidaying in Peru and Mexico. How sweet, nice and rich tasting indeed. While in the impoverished young and brave Southern lads of mother Lanka is putting their precious lives at risk fighting head to head , gun butt to gun butt with vicious Tigers in the jungles of Mulativu and Jaffna, our lucky former Her Excellency is holidaying petrhaps in rich Cancun.

Many great leaders who retired from Poitics young felt it was their duty to use their reputation and influence for the good of mankind. Former US president Bill Clinton works relentlessly travelling the world raising money to fight AIDS in the poorer countries. Former US President Jimmy Carter dedicated his remaining years to world Conflict resolution and making sure human rights are preserved for millions who are deprived of it.

I have an idea for her just in case she has too much time (and money). Why not spearhead a program to build some homes to those who are living on the streets after the Tsunami. Or better still, return to her dear country and at least visit some of those poor brave kids who have lost their limbs, legs and eyes fighting the very enemy she could not defeat for over 10 years despite lots of lip service.

Or dear God how I wish we had leaders who cared for the people, not those who cared for what they could get out of people. Sri Lanka will surely remain in the third world wilderness thanks to our wreched so called leaders. It is so refreshing to see a "Rajapaksha" at the helm.!!!

As for the luckiest person on earth I am convinced that we in the third world breed them much better so that we can continue to be ripped off.
