Is there a conspiracy by the International Community, to keep the third world countries undeveloped and dependant on them ?By Charles PereraIt appears that the developing countries are at the mercy of the developedcountries- the so called International Community. They do not show a genuine interest in the development of the Nations out side their own cultural influence. It is, as it was during the colonial period which began somewhere in the 15th century, by the English, the Portuguese, and then the French, the Americans and the Japanese at a later period. These Nations do not want small nations to develop and group together as power blocks. The former colonialists, brought along with them the Missionaries, and by introducing into the new colonies their religion, they took away from the colonised countries, their culture which they were born into and united them as a nation. The Missionaries introducing a foreign religion divided the people. They gave them different social and moral values. The special privileges offered to them by the hands that held the sword, were the baits that converted the natives to Christianity, thus becoming strangers to their own faith ,and their own people. The same thing is being repeated today through the conversion of the poor through offering of incentives, such as money, houses, building roads, and luring them through setting up International Schools, night clubs, bars, employments, trips and voyages, lotteries and green cards. These modern colonialist, secretly encourage the break up of developing
Nations so that they would not be a threat to their cultural, economic,
and industrial leadership. The terrorism and internal dissention that
create economic, social and political upheaval within developing Nations
would be encouraged by the International Community rather than provide
them means to overcome such problems, and help them in their efforts
in settlement of problems and development. The poor countries remaining
poor depending on the International Community, is the ideal towards
which the International Community seems to be working, trapping them
in to the net of globalisation. Sri Lanka, among other developing countries has all the potentials
for independent development. The very high percentage of literacy and
development in education, which has brought along with it science, and
technological development, augurs well for a country like Sri Lanka
to be The International Community would not want the small Nations to develop,
more so a country like Sri Lanka with all the potentials necessary for
its development. The greatest obstacle to Sri Lankas development
today is the LTTE terrorism . This the International Community is quite
aware of , When Allen Rock the UN Envoy on a fact finding mission, made unsupported accusation against the Sri Lanka army, as helping the Karuna faction to recruit under-age children , the SLMM representative Arthur Tveiten Immediately came to Allen Rocks defence stating that they support Rocks statement and they too have evidence of the Sri Lanka Army recruiting under age children for Karunas fighting cadre. Is that not a case of birds of feather flocking together to bring the government to disrepute, and put terrorists in parity with the government on an offence of which the LTTE is the known offender ? But yet the International Community go by Allen Rock, and Arthur Tveiten rather than accept the government version, which for them, unreliable.. India will not directly or indirectly help Sri Lanka as it wants to have the prestige of leadership in Asia, and keep Sri Lanka under its political control, not wanting it to develop into a economic and a political force. India would like Sri Lanka to remain a divided second class Nation. Same type of thinking that has kept Cuba with all its potential without means to develop into a great Nation. We who have not understood this manoeuvring, divide ourselves in all fronts, political, ethnic, and religious. We are small fry, for the International Community, compared to Iran, India, China, Vietnam and some other nations who had been able to pierce through the blanket of dependence thrown them. United Nations who we thought would be a support that the poor Nations may depend on to fight against discriminations by the Western or other power blocks, has become a mere name ever since the USA, paying scant respect to the United Nations, decided on its own to wage a war against Iraq. Since then UNO is like a wings-clipped bird. It has become a rubber stamp for the International Community, for what ever decisions they take outside the United Nations. In order to give itself a semblance of authority, the UNO seems to depends on its Peace Keeping Force. This is why the UN seems to be moving with the support of Japan as a member of the Co-Chairs demand Sri Lanka government to find a solution to the ethnic problem, through peace negotiations with the LTTE, or get the UNO to send a PKF to maintain peace and order. UNO seems to be doing its best to create in Sri Lanka an appropriate situation to send a contingent of its Peace Keeping force. Sending the UN Envoy Allen Rock on a fact finding mission may have been a deliberate attempt to get the type of report he made, to precipitate things to weaken the government, on force on it the UN Peace Keeping Force. What type of development will they encourage in the Third world ? International Community will of course encourage the development in our countries an infrastructure beneficial to them, which they can utilise to bring us completely under their economic, social and cultural influence, with the native population playing the second fiddle to their nationals. They will help in the development of holiday resorts, with restaurants, bars, nightclubs and residential homes with a view to settle down an important community made up of their own Nationals. They will also help in the development of industries, agriculture and technology for their use and consumption. This is already taking place in the Eastern and Southern coastal areas in Sri Lanka. While our politicians are bickering about communal, religious , and political changes the International Community seems to be changing our country into a Disney Land of pleasure and enjoyment for themselves. Along with that will come, child offences, pedophile and prostitution. The International Community will set up inquiries, inquests and deliberate divisive programmes, and other means of bringing disrepute to the country and the native population through Human Rights Organisation, Amnesty International, International Red Cross, Evangelists, Christian NGOs, World Monetary Fund,UN,UNDP, and UNICEF Fact finding Missions, Envoys, of Netherland, Canada, France, USA, Japan and so on. Therefore, it is time that we become aware of the brewing storms and
keep on our guard. |
