LTTEs Demand to Oust EU Members from SLMM Must be resisted at All Costs by the Sri Lankan Government as being a major amendment to the CFA both detrimental and unacceptable to Sri LankaRamanie de ZoysaTamil terrorists, the LTTE, are demanding the sacking of European Union truce monitors from Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission due to the EU proscription of the LTTE. They demand that these positions be filled with monitors to be newly recruited from Norway. Thamilselvam who met the Norwegian Ambassador Hans Brattskar in Kilinochchi early this week made this demand which seems to have been taken on board seriously not only by the SLMM, but also by the Sri Lankan Government to everyones greatest dismay! Article 3 of the CFA signed between the Tamil terrorists and the then Sri Lankan Prime Minister Wickramasinghe provided for the establishment of a peace monitoring body called the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission. Article 3 stated that: The Parties have agreed to set up an international monitoring mission to enquire into any instance of violation of the terms and conditions of this Agreement. It was agreed upon by the LTTE and Wickremasinghe that this international monitoring mission named SLMM shall be composed of representatives from Nordic countries (clause 3.5). The parties did not agree to a monitoring mission consisting of individuals from countries that have not banned the LTTE. The agreement also did not anticipate the recruitment of monitors from just Norway and Iceland. Nordic countries consist of five countries represented in the Nordic Council - Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Thirty seven out of the 57 monitors in the SLMM are from Sweden, Denmark and Finland. The LTTE is now demanding that these thirty seven members also be selected from either Norway or Iceland. Firstly, the latest LTTE demand to change the composition of the SLMM is ultra vires to the CFA. Agreeing to such a massive change of terms to the CFA unilaterally without the formal agreement of both parties to the agreement is both illegal and immoral- setting aside for a moment the fact that the CFA itself is both an illegal and immoral document. Secondly, Thamilselvan has told Brattskar the reason for this demand was the fact that the LTTE feels strongly about the neutrality of the SLMM given the inclusion of members from the three nations after the EU decision to ban the Tigers. The Sri Lankan Government should also vehemently reject the LTTE demand because having 57 individuals only from Norway and Iceland in the SLMM will result is a Norwegian majority in the Mission which should cause major neutrality concerns to the Sri Lankan Government given the already apparent partiality of Norway to the LTTE terrorists. Norway suffers from blinkered vision when it comes to the Tamil terrorists for several reasons; one of which being that Norway is ultra-anxious to wrap up a peace deal poste haste which would validate Norways extravagant claims of being a leading peace negotiator. A further reason is that Norway has not understood the real purpose of LTTEs existence; and, its not likely that Norway has the inclination to be enlightened either. Norway has swallowed the Tamil homeland and majoritarian discrimination fiction hook line and sinker and is not capable of taking in the reality of the Sri Lankan demographic identity. A further reason is the exceptionally large Tamil Tiger Diaspora resident in Norway who has for the last several decades been injecting these false stories into the veins of the Norwegian governing machinery thereby institutionalising the anti-Sinhala, anti-Sri Lanka stance plaguing the present Norwegian administration. These factors make it extremely detrimental for Sri Lanka to be monitored by a mission almost wholly consisting of Norwegians. Thirdly, the Sri Lankans and the Sri Lankan Government owe a debt of gratitude to the EU for taking the time to listen to the pulse of the country and recognizing the disease and giving the correct antidote for the poison that is killing Sri Lanka rather than basing its diagnosis on the false claims of the Tamil racist theoreticians- a course resulting in the proscription of the ruthless enemy. Sri Lanka should, under no circumstances, pay back the EU by sacking its citizens from the SLMM for the very action it took for the benefit of our country and our citizens. Fourthly, Thamilselvan is a beastly criminal and a lowdown, ignorant cur; as such he does not and should not be allowed to, decide who stays in Sri Lanka and who leaves Sri Lanka. The decision is up to the Sovereign State of Sri Lanka democratically appointed by the Sri Lankan citizens. That is the very reason the mission is called Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission and not Eelaam Monitoring Mission. I call upon the Sri Lankan Government, for once, to send the unmistakable message to Thamilselvan that he does not decide for Sri Lanka. Thamilselvan has the enormous advantage of being born with a gingelly (sesame) oil soaked rag in place of a brain and he simply lives in a dream world. He thinks he is a Minister, he is a Sovereign, he has rights to the sea and the air, he controls about a two thirds of Sri Lanka, he controls an army, he has a naval fleet, he runs a de-facto state: there is simply no end to the mental illusions of grandiose and the ensuing verbal diarrhea. Secretariat for Coordinating Peace Process (SCOPP) Deputy Chief Kethesh Loganathans reply to Thamilselvans outrageous demand strongly indicates that the Government may be considering giving in to this demand. "We are encouraged by the LTTE response, but one has to consider if it is practical to replace EU members with new monitors within a month". Mr Loganathan has said further that there are difficulties in identifying countries that are acceptable to both the Government and the LTTE and appointing them within the period the LTTE has mentioned. Why take great pains to explain? What are the apologies for? It only signals a great effort on the part of the Sri Lankan Government to hurry up and meet this demand. Why is this indecent hurry to appease LTTE? Surely not after Kebithigollewa! Did all those innocent Sinhala people die a horrible death bearing the brunt of the EU proscription for us to dance to LTTEs tune further? With respect to Mr Loganathan, I seriously question why it is always a Tamil who is doing the speaking for the so-called Sinhala Government. It is a fallacy of gigantic proportions that having a Tamil appointed to every crucial position of authority in Sri Lanka will pacify the Tamils and/or encourage the international community to take the Tamil claims of discrimination with a grain of salt. This fallacy is fed to the Sri Lankan society at large mainly by the elitist Sinhala journalists, university professors and other intellectuals of Sri Lanka who practice self-mutilation in order to gain acceptance of the world. If their claims are true the international community must be extremely enlightened by now considering the number of Presidential advisors, Army and Police Chiefs, key Ministers, Attorney Generals and other key civil servants who have been and continue to be Tamils over the last 50 years since independence from the British. An ex- AG now resident in Australia enjoying the Sri Lankan pension, while working for the LTTE, who will probably take over from dyeing LTTE theoretician Balasingham is a case in point. It is even more interesting that this man may continue to receive the generous Sri Lankan pension while working for the LTTE at its helm, against Sri Lanka. This is political correctness gone mad! Tamils have time and time again proved that they do not respect or appreciate the Sinhalese for the equality they have always enjoyed among the Sinhalese nor does the international community want to look at proof rather than listen to the fancy tales of the Tamils about discrimination. The Sinhalese must be represented by Sinhalese just like how the Tamils are represented by Tamils and Muslims are represented by Muslims. The fact that the Sinhalese must always have a lesser standard than the minorities is a unique characteristic of the puzzle that is Sri Lanka. Norway and the European Union member countries in the SLMM- Finland, Sweden and Denmark, are due to meet on June 29 in Oslo where they will discuss the LTTE's refusal to have EU members in the SLMM. What sort of underhand arm twisting Norway will resort to at this discussion will be no doubt be revealed in due course. Last but not least, LTTEs reply to the Norwegians 5-point letter was due on or before the 20th of June. This day has now come and gone but according to Pulidevan, the LTTEs peace secretariat head commanding the war from Killinochchi, has informed that they will respond only by the 22nd of June- even then only some of the questions will be answered. It is more than obvious that the LTTE has miserably failed the 5-question test set by the SLMM and that this ceasefire charade must now be called off. Having been well-trained by the LTTE over the last 30 years to dance
to its tunes it is incredibly easy for the Sinhalese and the Sri Lankan
Government to slip back into dancing to the Tamil terrorist demands;
we almost do that on auto pilot. We must now discard this programme
while there is still a race on this earth called Sinhala, before its
too late |
