USA should intervene to stop LTTE terrorism in Sri Lanka and call them to lay down arms, that would be in keeping with its avowed position with regard to terrorism in the world.

The President of Sri Lanka, has said that he is prepared to stop Karuna, for a glimpse of the divine face of the Sun God the evil Prabhakarana and have a word with him. The President may sacrifice any one for that purpose, but not Karuna. Karuna may still be a terrorist officially, but he has given up the ways of the blood thirsty Prabhakaran and his group of criminals, and has stated his willingness to join the democratic process to find a solution for the Tamil problem.

He is a great asset to Sri Lanka as he can go to areas controlled by the LTTE terrorists to which our army has no access. Therefore, we should be grateful to him for the part he is playing. We cannot at any cost make Karuna a blood sacrifice on the altar of the evil Sun God, to satisfy his insatiable thirst for blood.

Apparently Balasingham, probably on his death bed seems to be confessing the LTTE’s assassination of Rajiv Ghandi. One cannot be sure what the Indian PM and his External Affairs Minister have to say. If going by the counsel they had given to our government they might try to find a terrain d’entente between the LTTE and themselves, as they are pacifists and believe settling problems with the terrorists through dialogue, as they often tell us to do.

That reminds of Mr. Bush who had said referring to a missile the North Koreans had mounted on a hill…. ” Speaking at the White House, Bush made it clear to South Korea, Japan, China and Russia that they need to send a strong and united message to North Korea. This launch is provocative….” If Mr. Bush can send such a stricture to another government, why cannot he send a warning to the set of LTTE terrorists in Sri Lanka asking them to stop the killings and surrender their arms ?

This shows that USA can if it wants to use forceful words, and perhaps get other countries to stand with it, to stop other countries from doing what USA thinks is not right. USA can use that same forceful words and warn the LTTE terrorists to stop their terrorism and lay down arms, but what seems USA lack in this respect , is the will to do so.
