May the guardian deities of Sri Lanka protect our valiant Security Forces.
Let us keep the Sri Lankan political atmosphere clean by keeping out both Chandrika and Ranil.
By Charles Perera
We pray to guardian deities of Sri Lanka, to protect our army and give them added strength to fight the maras, the ruthless merchants of death, the bloodied pariahs. I hope that this is the time that the sleeping International Community and the doubting India wake up to the situation and help our armies to finish off with the terrorists once and for all.. We had been too lenient and giving in to the whims and fancies of the terrorists, hoping that they will end their terror campaign on their own. They are not that intelligent or civilised to see that they should one day give up their savagery and become human beings.
If India does not fall along with us now, the terror they might have to fight may be two fold greater. Because, if they can show to the terrorists in India, those who blew the trains, that India has the ability to fight terrorists any where , where ever they are , it will be a lesson for them to be on their guard and think twice before they attack innocent Indian civilians again.
This is the time too for the dissenting voices in Sri Lanka to get together to fight the common enemy the terrorists. It is not a question of cooperating with the President Mahinda Rajapakse, but a being a part of the effort to divest Sri Lanka of a destructive cancer that has been eating in to its flesh- the cancer of terrorism.
The UNP will neither help itself nor Sri Lanka, if they continue to stand aloof highly critical of the Government. The people of Sri Lanka did a mistake once, putting Ranil Wickramasinghe in to power, thereby helping terrorists that had been chased to Wanni to become a considerable force. We see now that LTTE and the UNP are working together each with its own Agenda. Ranil and his clique led by Jayalath Jayawardhana-the friend of Prabhakaran , would not be allowed to come into power again, if the people who had been voting for UNP, have the maturity to understand that the UNP leadership today, is not what the founding fathers of UNP wanted them to be.
It would be better for Chandrika Kumaratunga who is said to be preparing a political come back, to stay where she is, rather than pollute the political atmosphere of Sri Lanka. Both Ranil and Chandrika have left their passage through Sri Lanka politics with a nauseating bad smell. Therefore, the people have had enough of both of them, and will not turn to them as saviours.
