GET INTERNATIONAL INSPIRATION TO ROUT OUT TERRORISM

Sri Lanka lost another heroic patriotic Army Officer, Majaor General Parami Kulatunge consequent to the 244th Suicide Bombing of the ruthless tiger terrorists. There were customary condemnations, and attempts by “peace-merchants” to blame the government/slack of security for this heinous brutal murder. Post-incident reports and comments in the terrorist media nullify the routine instant denial made by the terrorist outfit of their responsibility for this dreadful crime.

Despite unprecedented deception, misinformation and duress by the chauvinists and the anti-national, pro-alien vested interests, people elected Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse as the President in the last Presidential Election since it was the last resort to save this nation from over two decades of anarchy and restore normalcy. Hence, it is the duty and the responsibility of the President and the government to uphold the people’s mandate without getting dissuaded by maneuvers of selfish pressure groups, and put a decisive halt to the atrocities of the terrorists.

Following the suicide attempt on Commander Sarath Fonseka, the LTTE website Tamil Editors and several others in bold letters and banner headlines announced that “the butcher of Jaffna, who was responsible for the death of over ten thousand Tamils in Jaffna has beeb punished”. Similarly, following the brutal murder of Major General Kulatunge the LTTE Website “Nitharsanam”, under the caption “TIT FOR TAT” claimed “the assassination of Maj Gen Kulatunga followed the killing of two top ranking LTTE military commanders, Col Ramanan of Batticaloa and Lt Col Mahindi of Mannar, for which Tigers have blamed the Sri Lanka Army.” Meanwhile, the pro-LTTE Tamil Daily “Uthayan” citing LTTE sources said that Major General Kulatunge was involved in assisting paramilitary groups and was prominent in unleashing violence through para military groups in the Wanni and Mannar regions. It further said that since 1978 when he was an ordinary officer in the Army he had been excessively involved in violence against the Tamil population.

Several thousands of our patriotic security personnel, some after gaining years of battle-hard experience and some in their prime youth have laid down their precious life, widowing their spouses, orphaning their innocent children, and depriving parenthood to their elders merely because they loved and treasured their motherland over and above their own self. Likewise, several thousand harmless elders, women, children and even infants lost their precious life under tragic circumstances and in brutal, barbaric manner for the only crime of being inhabitants of Sri Lanka.

Due to the folly, treachery, patronage and collaboration of our past spineless rulers the terrorist outfit, that could have been nipped in the bud, continue to reign supreme and pursue its separatist objectives unimpeded and unpunished. The idiocy of Chandrika/Ranil duo had unduly emboldened the terrorists, widened its activities, strengthened its power, and elevated its position, while placing Sri Lanka subjected to the whims and fancies of the doubled tongued western nations, and unscrupulous, vicious rogue organizations operating internationally with the objective of destroying age old traditions and values, imposing unethical religious conversions and introducing spiteful ethics and ideals.

It was to change this anarchist course, save the age old traditions and values, wipe out and annihilate the terrorist menace, ensure peace and harmony, and above all to protect and safeguard the safety and the territorial integrity of the nation that the people reposed their complete trust in President Mahinda Rajapakse as their guide, idol, and the saviour. Since that historical day, sensing the end of the days of blackmail, the terrorist outfit has escalated their violence against the security forces and the masses aiming to achieve their evil objectives by means of terror and intimidation.

The dollar slavish “peace merchants” the disgruntled treacherous politicians, the so-called double tongued western nations and our deceptive big-neighbour are making sinister efforts to defeat the people’s clear and uncompromising mandate and continue the so-called peace-façade that emboldens the terrorists and drive them inching towards the Eelam objective as similar scenarios helped divide the once powerful model nation Yugoslavia into several mini-States, Chzechoslovakia into two separate States and East Timor to segregate from Indonesia.

Although our treacherous past rulers abandoned the right course of action against the terrorist menace, some even at the verge of its annihilation, under duress or under deception by foreign powers with vested interests, the terrorist outfit remains unchanged and unmoved in its goals and objectives. Have they changed or diluted any of the demands that they submitted at the Thimpu Meeting in 1985, over 20 years ago? The so-called international community and the treacherous politicians claim agreement on various options, such as 2003 Oslo Agreement and 2004 Tokyo Declaration. But the terrorists boldly deny agreement to any of these arrangements and express their determination to achieve their uncompromising goal of Eelam through use of force or through persuasive maneuvers.

In reality, the terrorist outfit has no intention at all to adopt the peace path and relinquish their terrorist means being profusely claimed by the dollar slavish “peace merchants”. They continue to impart this false propaganda as they only benefit financially through the prolongation of the peace-façade. Material and literature in the terrorist media projected mainly for the consumption of Tamil diaspora are so venomous, misleading and offensive. There is no slight indication even in their willingness to cohabit with Sri Lankans living outside North and East.

Sri Lankans can live in peace and harmony and Sri Lanka can raise its head as a Nation State only by totally annihilating the terrorists and the terrorist menace from its soil. The actions of nations the world over against terrorists and rebellions provide guidance for the Sri Lankan government and security forces on the right actions to be undertaken to defeat the terrorist menace that plague us. Here are some examples:

- If Israel can invade and bombard Gaza and even take into custody several elected MPs including Ministers for the sake of securing the release of one soldier, why should not Sri Lankan forces invade Kilinochchi, bombard Tiger bases and take into custody Tamilselvan, Pulidevan and other known terrorists?

- If India can attack and kill Veerappan, Nexalites and Kashmiri militants for acting against its national interests, why cannot Sri Lanka attack and kill the known leaders and the cadres of the Tiger terrorists? (Even at the time of this writing it was reported that the Indian forces shot and killed 6 alleged Nexalites)

- If Britain can murder an innocent Latin American on “shoot-on-sight” order, invade and arrest persons, in the wee hours of the night, on suspicions of terrorist collaboration and possession of harmful chemical material, why should not Sri Lanka adopt the same principles who taught us the so-called democracy and good manners?

- If the United States, U,K, Australia and other western nations can carry out the carnage of Iraqi population in the name of eliminating terrorism, what is wrong if Sri Lanka adopt the same methods and destroy the terrorist bastions in Kilinochchi, illegal naval units in Mullaitivu, and Sampur and the unlawful airstrip constructed at Iranamadu?

- If Britain, Italian and other European forces could murder people in Afghanistan blaming them as Taliban fighters, what is wrong if Sri Lanka bombard and destroys the terrorist bunkers and training camps?

Rules and regulations against terror should be universal and the Sri Lankan government and the security forces have every right and people’s mandate to save the nation from the unending terrorist menace.
