A citizen explains to a dense International Community in simple language, that it is LTTE that are terrorists and not the Government

The Tamil People of Sri Lanka wants a political solution to have more political power to East and North. To attend to this legitimate grievance of the Tamil People Sri Lanka Government has appointed an All Party Conference to make proposals for devolution of power to North East.

The Terrorists of Sri Lanka, on the other hand want to carve out a part of Sri Lanka as a separate country called Eelam for themselves. But this is not a demand of the Tamil people or the Tamil Political Parties representing them.

Therefore the great International Community, should open their eyes to see reality of what is going on in Sri Lanka, without making out that the Sri Lanka Government is denying to the Tamil people of Sri Lanka ,their legitimate rights.

The International Community should also know, that the terrorism is cased by the terrorists calling themselves LTTE. They kill, assassinate, murder, mutilate abduct, shoot, plant claymore bombs, to kill all those opposed to them. They kill soldiers, police officers, journalists, ordinary civilians, mother, fathers, and abduct children. The government cannot fold their arms and wait allowing the terrorists to engage in their activity of human destruction, with complete impunity.

Therefore, one day when the terrorists forcibly closed a sluice in a water tank stopping water to drink, water to wash and bathe, and water to cultivate their paddy fields, the army asked the terrorists to open the sluice gates as it is vital for the poor farming villages. The terrorists then buried mines all around the sluice gate, and refused to open the sluice, and refused to allow the irrigation engineers to enter the sluice gates to open it.

The Government had no alternative, but to get the army to open the sluice. Army could not do this without using its infantry and air force, as at the time no body knew the real military strength of the terrorists, who had been allowed by Ranil Wickramasinghe’s government to enrich their arsenal purchasing heavy arms, from arms merchants abroad contacted by the terrorists on their several visits to Oslo, in the guise of attending peace meetings. The terrorists really had heavy arms with which they attacked the army when they went to open the sluice gates. The Army had no alternative but take a risk in using the infantry and military Kfir planes. After nearly ten days of fighting the Army managed to reach the sluice gate of the tank to open it and allowed the poor villages water to drink, wash and water for their fields which had by then dried and the paddy crop completely destroyed.

Army’s intention was to stop military action thereafter, but the terrorists went on a killing spree shooting civilians and army personnel , and using their guns in Sampur attacked the Navy. The Government had a responsibility to stop this carnage by the terrorists and got the army to intervene. Army against all odds captured Sampur. Even an idiot with a peanut for a brain will not say that the capturing Sampur from the terrorists, by the army a terrorist action, as the army has carried out its duty in defending the country. The terror is caused by the terrorists, and action by the army to counter these terrorist activities is normal. Though the Military is the army of a democratic government and it tries its best to avoid putting civilians in danger, the bombs and bullets are unfortunately, not intelligent, and the repercussions by their bursting on the ground cannot be controlled by the army, and the responsibility for heavy loss of men and material is that of the terrorism of terrorist LTTE.
