Mr. A. and the late Reverent Dr. Martin Luther King

When I saw that the Asian Tribune (December 28, 2006) has identified Mr. A as “tolerance and non-violence laureate, the late MLK came to my mind. When MLK went to Alabama to fight against the Ku Klux Klan, local Christian church leaders asked him to leave their state because the time was not yet ripe for outsiders to come and agitate for racial desegregation in the south USA. MLK wrote his famous reply letter to church leaders from his Birmingham prison cell. After all past generations of most southern USA church priests justified slavery as part of God’s plan.

Mr. A in his letter printed in the Asian Tribune says that the time is not ripe to de-merge the East from the North. He says Rajiv Gandhi did it 17 years ago and the merged new unit had gained some sort of legitimacy! Just like the Alabama priests Mr. A wants to maintain the “status quo” until the country reaches “normalancy.”

Mr. A and Aerial Sharon of Israel

Mr. A and AS of Israel are in the same boat. Thirty years ago AS started creating Jews “settlements” in the Palestinian land as a war hero. Thirty years later the settlers wanted to murder the hero. The hero finally accepted his immoral act but is in a comma. When is Mr. A going to accept the mistakes of his FP and TULF? Mr. A and his dead or murdered leaders used “boys” as cat’s paw just like the LSSP and SLFP leaders (Leslie Gunawardena and Stanley Tilakaratne, just to name two) used “boys” in the south prior to and during the 1970 elections and received the 1971 JVP insurrection as wages of sin.

Mr. A’s albatross

Mr. A forgets facts. As the lonely open Tamil merchant of the Indian “F” formula, he says that Tamils look for a separate state after the 1956 Sinhala Only Act. More recently, several Sinhala retired CAS persons came to the rescue of Mr. A stating that SOA “humiliated” Tamils. These born-again CAS retirees forget the Article 343 (1) of the Indian Constitution which made Hindi the Official language (Raja Bhasha) of the Union in 1950. They also forget that in 1963 India passed the Hindi Official Language Act which is implemented with annual reports of progress.

They also ignore the Tamil Language (reasonable use) Act of 1958, which JRJ sabotaged with his infamous Imbulgoda March. Even Stanley Tambiah in his Buddhism Betrayed book forgot about it or the 1962 Coup! The separatist germ dates back to the 1920s, and the Tamil state party (FP) was formed in 1949.

Tamils had no justifiable reason to feel humiliated. Any magazine published in the Tamil Nad, any movie, any degree in Madras University and any bride from Tamil Nad was available to a Tamil in Sri Lanka living in Jaffna, Colombo or Galle. For the Sinhala language what remains is the ocean then and now. If there is a humiliated race it was the Sinhala Buddhists who suffered for 450 years of colonial abuse and who suffered humiliation more recently in 1987 under Indo-Sri Lanka agreement of Rajiv Gandhi and the 2002 CFA of Eric Solheim.

Betrayal of the tolerance of Sinhala Buddhists

When Mr. A was donated a seat in the Parliament by JHU why did he not accept it? JHU was the first political party without black whites. In 1923/4 Tamil and Sinhala Colombo black whites agreed to a secret formula of “balanced representation” to deprive the masses the democratic power of territorial representation after 100 years of communal representation which began in 1832. Colombo Tamil black whites thought that the fifty-fifty formula will give them the “Two-nation” status implemented in India, and thus both Sinhala and Tamil ruling families could continue their exploitation of the masses.

However, in 1927 and 1944, Tamil black whites complained to British commissioners that the Sinhala people discriminated against them. For two thousand years the Sinhala Buddhist never ill-treated another religious or racial group and the accusations made by Colombo-living, English-educated Tamil ruling families damaged the trust based on Tamil-Sinhala co-habitation. When Amirthalingam became the Leader of the Opposition in 1977 or when Mr. A was donated a seat by JHU, each ignored the advice given to Tamil leaders by the late Chief Justice Sansoni—give up the dream of a separate state. When a Tamil was the LoO and another the Attorney General, Tamil professors in USA tricked the Massachusetts Legislature to pass a resolution to condemn the Sinhala Buddhist government as if rulers of Sri Lanka were really Sinhala Buddhists.

Mr. A and the malaria mosquito

Mr. A did not accept JHU offer because he has believed in a traditional Tamil homeland in the Eastern Province. He is blind to the fact that it was the malaria mosquito that prevented a homeland for the South Indian Vanniyars who came during the Dutch times. The homeland built by the ancient Sinhala kings was destroyed by the destruction of the sophisticated irrigation water supply system. Mr. A is now telling us the same old philosophy—17 years ago it was felt that N-E needed to be merged, Tamils and Muslims like merger, do not repeat the mistake of the Sixth Amendment, public servants, not Prabakaran, who ran the merged province, Parliament can take care of the Supreme Court decision—after failing for a life time.

Empowering people, not politicians

When is Mr. A going to come out of his establishment box. I cannot brand Mr. A as a black white because I do not know he frame of mind in this regard. But what Sri Lanka needs is not an “F” solution which will help a group of Tamil politicians. What Sri Lanka needs is real empowerment of people based on a system which will begin with village council-level devolution of power. If our old concept of village council is modernized with the river basin-based territorial boundaries, then it can create an upward hierarchy allowing even multi-district Tamil units where Tamils can achieve their aspirations without the Sinhalese fearing the Tamil Nad gorilla. Global warming, floods and land slides all force us to think of river basin based political units. Mr.A should take a trip to New Zealand with the minister Vithana to see first-hand how this new method works.

God Speaks in five

In India the Nehru method failed. He was obsessed with USSR and Stalin and their five year plans. If one-third of rural Indians live with 26 cents per day what is the use of Nehru? After fifty years Mahatma Gandhi method is coming back. If five people agree and make a common effort that is how the god speaks. Now India has placed all its eggs on the Panchayati Raj basket. Why cannot Mr. A also get into this basket? Why does he think that “F” solution is his path to nirvana? Does he want the Jaffna and Mulative farmers to thrive in peace and happiness or does he want English-educated Tamil politicians to make a living?

Mr. A’s moral dilemma

Is there any validity to Mr. A’s claim, “let people decide [if they want a de-merger]” He asks the President to “wait until the normalancy returns.”

He says Rajiv G merged the two provinces. What moral grounds Mr. A has to tell that people must decide de-merge? If an Indian race car driving son of a political dynasty can treat a 2500-year old country as his real estate, why cannot Mahinda R who was elected by the Pancha Maha Balavegaya of Sri Lanka implement the Supreme Court decision?
What is the kind of democracy Mr. A is for? If the 1976 electoral list is used as guidance or if the 1977 election results are used as an indication there is no way a new election will result in the Eastern Province deciding to join with the Northern Province.
There was clear difference between Jaffna Tamils and Batticaloa Tamils. The Karuna fraction is an ultimate outcome of this division. Does Mr. A want to deny this democratic right of Tamils by delaying it until normalancy returns?
When can we expect normalancy?
(a) When Prabakaran’s and Tamil Selvam’s children graduate from western universities?
(b) When Prabakaran lose his wisdom teeth and become bold headed?
(c) When Professor Ratnajeevan Hoole comes back from excile? Or
(d) When Eric Solheim gets fed up with his Thosai breakfast?


Mr. A and God Vishnu

Sri Lanka has no time to wait. The black white Colombo ruling families of UNP and SLFP destroyed the island in every conceivable way one can think of. The millennium city raid, 2002 CFA, Liam-Fox agreements, allowing terrorists to place guns south of the Trinco harbor, politician running the war, army majors and generals on terrorists payrolls, all this make one wonder how on earth Sri Lanka still remain as one country and not another Lebanon or Palestine.

Sri Lanka has been saved by God Vishnu, the protector of Buddhism in the island according to the Mahavamsa legend. He helped in the 2005 presidential election. Otherwise, by now terrorists will be running the cabinet in Colombo. God Vishnu filled the terrorist stockpile of surface to air missiles with the tsunami salt water making them defunct. The war was not winnable theorists such as CBK-RanilW-AnuraB-Kumar Rupasinha-Jehan Perera-GL Peiris-Milinda Moragoda, are now silent because God Vishnu is with the Sinhala village boys and girls who are protecting their motherland.

When the last terrorist bunkers at Vakarai that Eric Solheim helped them to build under the 2002 CFA are demolished there will be no need to talk about merger. The question will be how to create village council-level empowerment units to facilitate harmonious living of the three communities, Tamils, Sinhala and Muslims. The sooner Mr. A understands this new ground truth the better for Mr. A and the island he loves so much. Hopefully he will come out his box and work for the betterment and achievement of aspiration of all.

The entire world is under the grip of a tiny group of international ruling elite. Local black whites from the former colonies have joined in hands with this global crowd in a new way of exploitation via NGO-INGO mudalalis. Think of UNO, the most corrupt institution in the world. Who are running it at mid-level? Black whites from the third world countries.
