The forgotten statement of Ban Ki Moon and European Union to the Government of Afghanistan. The Talebans and the Government of Afghanistan should stop violence immediately and start negotiations for peace.By Charles PereraImmediately after the LTTE terrorist attack on the helicopter carrying the foreign diplomats, The Secretary General of the UNO issued a statement condemning the attack on foreign diplomats carried out by the LTTE terrorists and urged both sides in the conflict to halt the bloodshed and resume talks. The European Union then followed with the statement, The European Union calls on both sides to return immediately to the negotiating table and to work on the basis of a constructive proposal of a sustainable resolution to the conflict," There is some thing wrong both with Ban Ki Moon and the President of the European Union. One wonders whether they have dropped from the moon. They are both issuing statements mechanically, without trying to understand the utter stupidity of their statements. It was on the 27 of February, a day before the LTTE Terrorist attack on the diplomats that the American Vice President Dick Cheney escaped a suicide bomb attack outside the main U.S. military base in Afghanistan, ,which killed 23 people. An American and a South Korean soldier were among those confirmed dead. The Talebans quickly announced responsibility for the attack and said the U.S. leader was the intended target. Cheney reportedly warned Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf that U.S. funding to Islamabad could be in jeopardy unless his forces help improve regional security. This statement of Cheyney is an open threat to Pakistan to either use the army to increase military attack for regional security, or risk jeopardising US Funding to Islamabad And on Monday, Britain said it would send an additional 1,400 troops to Afghanistan to help repel any offensive, by more military attacks. These are the double tongued messiahs. No where it has since been reported that Ban Ki Moons and the European Union have condemned the attack by the Taleban . Nor have they issued statements requesting both sides to stop violence and start peace negotiations. Now why do the USA and the International Community supported by the UNO, want Sri Lanka Army to negotiate with the terrorists, when they compel Pakistan under threat to use military force for regional security ? Some one should question this from the Americans and the International
Community, if the President Mahinda Rajapakse himself is unable to put
the question to them. There is some thing serious behind these statements.
Do they want the Sri Lanka government to let the LTTE terrorists declare
a Tamil Eelam in the North and East ? Because this is the only issue
on which the terrorists will negotiate and nothing else, and this the
International Community, the USA, and the UNO are fully aware.
