Be Alert to the True Nature of The LTTE
-Attack on Diplomatic Dignitaries to Batticaloa-

What is "humanitarian" and has the LTTE terrorists done anything during 25 years to show the world that they are humanitarian or that they deserve any "humanitarian "consideration? What they disgracefully attempted to do yesterday in Batticaloa, must necessarily open the eyes of all those who stand on their side and support their attempts to break up this country as well as the harmony there was among the Tamil,Muslim and Sinhala communities in Sri Lanka.

For reasons best known to the Catholic Church, after having appealed on behalf of the LTTE for quite some time, all Bishops have opted to keep "mum" after weapons were discovered inside one of their own Catholic Churches in Jaffna recently! Not only the foreign dignitaries who were targeted in this most recent attack, there will come a day when LTTE terrorists will also eliminate the Catholic Bishops one by one, when they have no more need for their support-this is the reality and true nature of terrorists and LTTE is by no means an exception to this rule.

It is with regret that we note how the terrorists attempted to attack the aircraft carrying six top foreign diplomats, country- representatives of international humanitarian organizations, who were accompanied by our Disaster Management Minister Mr. Mahinda Samarasinghe at approximately 8.15 am on 27th February 2007. By this act of inhumane hostility, they injured the Italian Ambassador and 9 others of the delegation who were on a field visit to Vakarai to discuss the issue of humanitarian assistance to IDPs in the area.

Both the Italian Ambassador and the US Ambassador sustained injuries from the flying shrapnel. Among those who sustained injuries (according to the Daily News of 28th February 2007) over 10 persons including 4 policemen, 3 STF men, 2 diplomats, 1 airman, a student and the cameraman of the Disaster Management Ministry media team were injured in this attack

Foreign governments and humanitarian organizations have been trying to strike a balance between putting pressure on the Sri Lanka government and the LTTE and have attempted to get them to the negotiating table. What the foreign governments and humanitarian organizations have failed to understand, is the fact that the LTTE never ever want peace but war and brutal war at that. When the GOSL has been making efforts to free the suffering majority Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities in the North and East, even countries like Germany and UK tried to use "strong arm tactics" by declaring that they will withdraw aid to Sri Lanka.

What they should do instead if they are sincere about eliminating terrorism from the face of this earth, is to support our GOSL more closely and stop threatening us. Foreign INGOs, NGOs, local promoters of so called "peace" are only day dreaming if they think they can put sense into terrorists! The GOSL is a legitimate government while the terrorist movement of the LTTE is an illegal operation- which do you support? The very name "Tiger" and the logo of the LTTE with the tiger head, must show the world that tigers are not "domestic" animals and that an organization that selects such an emblem are never hoping to drink milk or be vegetarians or to practise "Ahimsa"! They want cold-blooded targets and that is what they have been doing for so long. "Traditional Homeland" to them is only a ruse for their bloodthirsty agenda. In the areas they profess is their legitimate claim, see how many of their own community they have eliminated during two and a half decades to judge whether they can ever be considered to be the "sole representatives" of the Tamil community in this country?

Half hearted hypocritical efforts by the world at large in their war against terrorism will not work- strong unity to help the GOSL do their job will definitely show results and no one should stand in the way for whatever reasons. Let us see whether Foreign Diplomats who declare war on terrorists in their own countries but who talk of humanitarianism in ours, will open their eyes even now at this late stage, to the realities surrounding the terrorist agendas!

Cobras, Vipers and Tigers (human or animal) are not to fondled but eliminated without delay or else you will be mauled or stung! The EU, Germany, UK and USA must exhibit a true and honest approach to the problem of terrorism and stop calling for "talks"- we have done it for so long but the Tiger has always showed it does not want peace- why is it so difficult to understand this simple logic?
