It was a disgrace to note three British parliamentarians addressing an event eulogising terrorists as Heroes and listening to a live broadcast by megalomaniac despot murderer Vellupillai Pirapaharan, hiding in the Wanni jungles.

“Mr. Vaz called for a negotiated solution and warned said if the Sri Lankan government continued the war, separation would become inevitable. I can totally understand the demand of some Tamils for an independent state. These calls will only get louder and louder unless there is just peace," he said.” [Tamil Net, 28 November 2007]

Mr. Vaz, you may be the head of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Tamils, in the UK., however this does not give you the right to call on the Sri Lankan government to find a negotiated solution or warn of inevitable separation if the continued the war.

The Sri Lankan government is a democratic institution, elected by over 19 million people [Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim and other minorities] of a sovereign nation. 52% of the Tamil population in Sri Lanka live among the Sinhala, Muslim and other communities, in the south. The LTTE are nothing but a bunch of cyanide neck laced suicide bombing terrorists, led by a megalomaniac despot murderer. These terrorist murderers are financed by the Tamil Diaspora abroad. Their demand, to carve out 1/3 of the land area and 2/3 of the sea coast of Sri Lanka as a mono ethnic ‘Tamil Eelam’ state for less than a million Tamil people. It is sad, that democratic politicians like you fail to understand the difference.

Mr Vaz, your origins are from India. Unlike Sri Lanka, [max. 3 million] there are over 60 million Tamil people in Tamil Nadu, India. However Tamil is not even a state language in India. Mr. Suba Veerapandian, the veteran Tamil nationalist politician from Tamil Nadu, who delivered the keynote address must first try and sort out their problems in Tamil Nadu, without meddling in the affairs of another sovereign nation. Have you wondered why most Sri Lankan Tamils living next door to the big Tamil state, do not seek refuge in India. Any honest Sri Lankan Tamil would admit that they are better off in Sri Lanka in all aspects of life than in the Tamil Nadu state of India.

You do not have to be rocket scientist to deduce that the Tamil Sri Lankan Diaspora, mainly asylum seekers seek refuge only in Western countries [UK, Canada, USA, Norway, Germany, France, Italy etc] for their economic well being. Mr Vaz, over 20,000 Tamils, mingled with you at the Excel centre, 99% of these Tamils or their families, will never go back to live in Sri Lanka even If the conflict [war] is brought to an end tomorrow. Most of these asylum seekers are on indefinite leave to remain in western countries. Their chances of getting citizenship and permanent stay are dependent on the number of years the conflict is dragged on and on. Is it not in their interest to keep this conflict smouldering? However once they get the foreign passport in their hands, they go to Sri Lanka on holiday, the country they fled in terror, for their lives! Please visit the Heathrow airport, and witness for yourself the numbers of Tamils of Sri Lankan origin, with foreign passports leaving for their holidays to Sri Lanka.

The LTTE terrorists depend on this Tamil Diaspora to finance their terror activities. With the help of the international community the Sri Lankan government has curtailed these activities and is addressing the terrorist problem in the only methods terrorists understand, with the resources available. This gathering organised by the Tamil National Remembrance Foundation, an association of families of Tamils who had fallen in the Tamil struggle, was nothing other than a smoke screen to collect funds for the LTTE terrorists who are now breathing their last, unfortunately you, Virendra Sharma and Joan Marie Ryan were a party to this charade.

Finally Mr. Vaz, Sri Lankans appreciate that you are constituency MP, dependent on the Tamil asylum seeker votes, as such your eagerness to totally understand the demand of some Tamils for an independent state, listening to Tamil propaganda and advocating a pro-LTTE personal opinion. It is of no use for you or other so called advocates of peace to call for a negotiated solution as the sovereignty of the nation is non-negotiable. You can be assured that most MP’s of the Sri Lankan government representing over 19 million people [Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim and others] who live in Sri Lanka, in the midst of the atrocities committed by LTTE terrorists and problems associated with terrorism, will never give into the unjustifiable demands of a miniscule minority of Tamils backed by ruthless terrorists.

Sri Lanka is a sovereign unitary nation, where Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim and people of all other origins will live as Sri Lankans, under one national government, one national flag one national anthem, anywhere they wish to live in Sri Lanka.
