Don't allow NGOs or unwanted foreigners in Security camps:Sunil JayalathThe reality is in fact worst. This decision should have taken years ago. This is one of the ways free information is leaking out about the armed-forces security. This action by the SLGo is welcome. Another example: Within the Naval Head Quarters in Colombo 1, there are at least two organizations functioning (one has to do with a foreign fertilizer company - I was told that possibly related to Norway), and in fact those foreigners are living there (i.e, inside the navy head quarters)! I have been trying to convince the successive Navy Commanders and the Defense ministry for the past two years, that this is a serious security threat and encouraged them to get these foreigner (also some Srillankan civilians, which they has nothing to do what-so-ever with the Navy) out of this vital Nava position in colombo. Nothing has happened. Worse thing is that these folks goes in and out of this Navy HQ freely with "bags" etc.; and they are NOT searched at all (amazingly, just a hand wave to the guards and goes inside the camp!). They are totally taken for granted by the gate-guards, and unbelievable that they are NOT being searched neither their bags!!! This is amazing (and dangerous act), and I have watched these happening at the Navy HQ gates, at least three separate times over the past two-years when I was in Colombo. This is in fact a bad circus and bound to hit back with night-mares in time such a vital place with no security). When is the SLGo (or the armed forces for that matter) going to take notice of this kind of internal security blunders, which must t be cleaned up immediately for their own sake. Someone needs to take the leadership of internal security; and should
appoint a senior leadership committee or armed forces to looking into
these security laps and over-all internal security tightening in general
immediately. There are other such examples of laps of security in
Colombo as well, which I will not write to the net (some of the have
been informed more than once to appropriate authorities in Colombo). http://www.lankatruth.com/full_story/2007/jan/06/20070106_8.htm [6th January 2007 - 17:30 S.L.T) The Government has issued a directive to all officers in charge of security camps not to allow any volunteer organizations to enter the camps. The Government has taken this decision as various organizations and NGOs that depend on foreign money had gone into the security camps in the past to lecture the soldiers on peace. Meanwhile, the Government has received information that two voluntary
organizations had conducted a workshop for Home Guard in the North.
A Government spokesman said, "We know what their intentions are.
This Government directive has been sent to all schools as well.
Government Intelligence services have received information that some
of these organizations are linked to tiger organization
