Violent Children

Shenali Waduge

The western society is renowned for its mannerisms – the golden words “please”, “thank you” “your welcome” are practically on the tip of their tongues. Children are also taught through their formative years to ensure that these golden words are never forgotten. Yet, with all this grooming through the years we question the cases of violence associated with children & also why they would wish to give up their homes & families as early as when they turn 16 & embark on an independent life coming only to see their parents over Christmas, New Year & Thanks Giving? This is in deed most puzzling.

Of course it would be unfair to generalize because in rural areas of these western climes there are many children who are very much close to their families & like Eastern society continue to treat their parents & look after them.

The most recent case was in Finland where an 18 year old ended up killing himself after killing 8 other innocent students. The US has the highest number of such related crimes & the numbers doesn’t seem likely to reduce.

In fact violence amongst elders has had its toll on the youth globally. They are as violent as the elders & unless immediate measures are adopted to stop the spread of such atrocities it would end up far worse than having to handle a terrorist situation.

We are after all dealing with the future generation.
