14 terrorists killed and arms recovered- Batticaloa

The SL Army troops in clearing operations confronted an LTTE movement killing 14 terrorists and recovering a hoard of weapons, in Unnichchai 12 kilometres south-west of Karadiyanaru in Batticaloa today (11).

The slain bodies of the terrorists were later recovered by the security forces after consolidating the defences in the area. The arms recoveries included 02 RPG launchers, 01 sniper weapon, 10 T-56 assault riffles and 05 mobile phones.

Meanwhile, military sources said that a soldier has made his supreme sacrifice, while 10 others received injuries. The injured were rushed to the Ampara Base Hospital according to the MCNS officials.

According to reports a total of 34 terrorists were believed killed while similar numbers are expected to receive injuries while confronting the SL forces defensive attacks in Batticaloa and Ampara districts.
