Why India Wants to Tinker with Sri Lanka Constitution?

Kithsiri Athulathmudeli, Florida, USA

British wrote the Indian constitution and not the Indians. So they created a puppet as the president who is not elected by the people and has no power. Which is very similar to the British parliamentary system. These types of governments are pseudo democracies. These pseudo democracies were created in the eighteenth century to protect the Royalty. If there was an uprising; the masses went after the Prime Minister and his government, not the King or the Queen. The problem with this type of government is: Pseudo democracies elect their head of state not by popular vote, but by a committee. Therefore to change the government, a whole political party has to be defeated. The result, one Prime Minister rules almost indefinitely. Examples, are India and Britain. Change happens only when a Prime Minister dies of old age, killed or resigns due to ill health. Good examples are India and Britain. (Jawahal Lal Nehru, died of old age. Indira Gandhi, Rajive Gandhi killed. Mrs. Thatcher, Tony Blair resigned due to ill health). Average Indian fully well knows the Sri Lanka Constitution is far superior to the Indian constitution. This is why Indira Gandhi tried to tear it up by using Tamil terrorists and misguided Sinhala youth. Since the Sri Lanka constitution was written, every Indian Prime Minister and his government has attempted to do the power sharing comedy act or the federal comedy act in Sri Lanka. They try to undermine the constitution, but they fully well know that there is no room in the Sri Lanka constitution for Federal comedy act or the Power sharing comedy act.

Sri Lanka constitution is a robust constitution and has been time tested. It has withstood onslaughts from India, EU, Norway and the US, when Colin Powell was the secretary of the state, also from corrupt Sri Lankan Prime Ministers and Presidents. It has withstood multitude of storms: Typhoons, whirlwinds, hurricanes and even the Tsunami. Founding Fathers of the of the constitution were a set of elite individuals, when creating the constitution, they full well knew that India will try to undermine it, but they stood firm and created the best so that no Indian could come and tinker with it.

Since Minhinda Rajapakse became the president, how many Indian high-ranking government officials have visited Sri Lanka? Over 20 and what is the mantra they say as soon as they set foot in Sri Lanka! "Devolution of power should be carried out as soon as possible." Very recent visit by Foreign Minister Bogalagama to India, where he met the Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukheerjee. What did this Mukheerjee clown say to Rohitha Bogollagama as soon as he saw him? The same mantharaya every one says. "You must do power sharing in the Northern and Eastern provinces." With whom I might say! The answer; Tamil Nadu? What I gathered from what was published and using my own judgment to evaluate what did not get reported in the media: Mukheerjee told Rohitha Bogollagama exactly what Rajive told J.R. Jayawardena: "Don't ever think about a glorious military, India will never allow it to happen!

No one wants to talk about the Indian constitution, but every one wants to circumvent the Sri Lanka constitution, so as to give a foothold in Sri Lanka for the Tamil Nadu Tamils. What will this equate to: India has total control of Trincomalee deep sea harbor. Indian Navy will not have to get permission from the Sri Lanka government to enter and setup its own facilities to supply the Indian Navy ships. Why India wants total control of this area (Now India wants to dig the sea bed and destroy the Hauman Bridge)? Not because of oil and gas deposits, it is because of their largest naval base, Vishakapathnam.

One has to understand the fact that the Tamil terrorists are India's "Territorial Army!" So will they allow Sri Lanka armed forces to defeat the Tamil terrorists? Certainly NOT! It is a well known fact that Rajive openly told late J.R. Jayawardena and late Lalith Athulathmudali, India will never allow Sri Lanka navy to control the Trincomalee deep sea port, because there are too many security issues that are at stake for India. To begin with you do not have a navy to defend the harbor. Next issue is Vishakapathnam naval base will come within the vicinity of any friendly navies that will visit the Trincomalee harbor, namely, Pakistan navy, and the US navy. The hidden issue is the nuclear research facilities in Tamil Nadu, where a visiting Navy vessel with modern listing devices can gather intelligence information.

As a hypothetical condition, say, General Fonseka defeated the Tamil terrorists and drove them off to sea or to Tamil Nadu. Will India take it lying down? Certainly NOT! If this happens, it equates to a clear defeat for the India's regional army. Believe it or not Tamil terrorists, what ever form or shade, they are, is the India's regional army. They might be politicians inside the parliament, politicians out side the parliament, religious leaders, or pure terrorists, Sinhala or Tamil; they are the Indian regional army. This army is totally buffered by Tamil Nadu, so India cannot be associated to it in any form.

The statement that appeared in the Colombo Page website (February 26th 2007) given by Vaiko, a very influential Tamil Nadu politician, probably the next chief minister of Tamil Nadu, substantiate my argument. He stated that he and his political party supports Eelam for Tamils achieved by military means, in Sri Lanka, but he and his party would not support those creating violence in Tamil Nadu in the name of Sri Lanka Tamils. Last part of the statement is the part that clearly show how India buffers it self when an Indian politician slanders United States. "He also alleged and accuse US of supplying military weapons to Sri Lanka illegally through Pakistan." I do not know why the US embassy in Sri Lanka does not respond to this type of rhetoric from Tamils. I am sure Vaiko knows, if US is providing military weapons to Sri Lanka, it will be Cobra attack helicopters and F111 fighter jets, but unfortunately he cannot go beyond his rhetoric, Sri Lanka Air Force uses archaic MiG 27 jet fighters made by Russians.

Another example of India's Regional Army phenomenon is the statement given by Bishop Duleep De Chickera, head of the Anglican Church. When US military came to help with the Tsunami relief, he said he was concerned, because he did not like the US military to be on Sri Lanka soil. This man must be a crazy nut because the head of his church is the British Queen and she allows US to have military bases in UK.

Following will substantiate my hypothesis: (As published on the Internet news media) A Sri Lankan Tamil MP G. Gunasekaran held a public meeting on March 8th 2007, in Chennai Tamil Nadu and stated that Rajive Gandhi-J.R. Jayawardena pact was to create a Tamil only state from Northern and Eastern provinces. The new state was to be called Indo-Lanka government. I do not know why he did not call it "Tamil Only Republic." Rajivie Gandhi told G. Gunasekaran and his political party Eelam National Democratic Liberation Front(ENDLF) "Tamils will have this independent state in any way." Since this is not happening, G. Gunasekaran told a cheering Tamil crowd, over ten thousand, that he is requesting the Indian government to attack Sri Lanka military and push it out of Northern and Eastern provinces. Destroy all Sri Lankan Navy Dora attack vessels and then occupy the Trincomalee harbor. At that time, did the news media or any body else knew that Rajive has allocated the Northern and Eastern provinces to ENDLF as if it was his own property? I have now proved beyond doubt that the Tamil Terrorists are India's Regional Army. Any one wants to concur or non-concurrence?

If the above is true then this amounts to high treason. Therefore at least in theory, this Tamil MP should be impeached from the parliament and his civil rights taken away. Will this happen in the Sri Lanka Parliament? I do not think so.
