Political Solutions for 9/11, 3/12, 7/7 and 7/11 Attacks?

Dilrook Kannangara

The international community says the Sri Lankan conflict can only be solved by a political solution.
This is a clear case of hypocrisy.
Did the US government even consider a political solution for the matters that led up to 9/11 attacks?
What are the political solutions to the wars raging in Iraq, Afghanistan and what about the ‘war on terror’?

  1. Why political means weren’t used to put a hold to the ‘cold war’ and its many manifestations?
  2. Did the Spanish government consider it after 3/12 (March 12th 2004)?
  3. How about the British political solution to ‘home grown terrorism’?
  4. What was the political solution to the Falkland war?
  5. What did the separation yield in East Timor apart from anarchy?
  6. What is India’s political solution to 7/11 bombers?
What is India’s political solution to terrorism in Kashmire and Assam?

Why did India support the Nepal king’s mischief against his own people and why didn’t it press for a political solution where it was really appropriate? Also why no such solution is even suggested by India to solve the Maoist insurrection?

It would be marvellous if we can make such statements each time a bomb goes off in the cities of these example-setters.
Alternatively the Sri Lankan government should demand from them to share with us their ‘political solutions’ that solved the THEIR problems.

In extreme contrast, they (those who preach political solutions) have used military might to crush terrorists, new laws to tackle terrorism, more troops to war torn areas, developed larger and more powerful bombs, frozen assets of militants and their financiers, silenced all pro-rebel mass media, divided the world into ‘evil’ and other, exploit existing divisions between Shiite and Sunni Muslims, committed genocides of 5 million Vietnamese, Afghans, Iraqis and Iranians, etc., etc.

Who gains by continued violence, terrorism, disintegration and instability in any part of the world? Definitely not us as we have suffered when conflicts rage in most parts of the world.

1. Arms suppliers will be the ultimate winners
2. NGOs will also have many highly profitable projects canvassing for peace, engaged in humanitarian, reconstruction and rebuilding work
3. Sections of the international community that is trying to interfere with regional affairs
4. The hung parliament of India which depends heavily on the support of terror worshiping Tamilnadu politicians
5. Some local politicians, journalists, activists, artists and others who have fattened themselves with NGO money

Amidst all this confusion, we should chart our own course. How Malaysia dealt with its terrorist problem should teach us. We should be careful to consider only the methodology that worked for these countries and not the free advice of their politicians/officials.

  • In the meantime why not India set us an example. Merge the Indian and Pakistani controlled divisions of Kashmere which was always supported by Pakistan
  • find a political solution to the killings of Hindi speaking migrants in Assam recently
  • allow Tamilnadu politicians to create the Tamil nation consisting of 60 million people carved out of India
  • withdraw troops from Jammu and Kashmere so that there will be peace there.

Depending on the results we may consider either to follow suit or guard against the much talked about political solution.
