Mr. Alan Tonks, MP
Liberal MP for York South-Weston
House of Commons
Ottawa

Gentlemen:

I had no squabble with you two parliamentarians for presenting two petitions today in Parliament from your Tamil constituents charging the Sri Lankan Government for human rights violations of Tamils, as this is what is expected of you from your constituents even though it grated me somewhat as those petitions painted only the Tamils as the aggrieved party in this separatist war. But what I took umbrage was for you two to request the Canadian government to get involved in the peace process in Sri Lanka.

You two Liberals are obviously living a lie not to accept that Canada had abdicated the Lester Pearsonian crown of being an International Peace-Keeper the very moment you Liberals decided to look the other way allowing your Tamil constituents to collect dollars to stuff their Tamil Tiger terrorist’s war chest. And that were in the millions of dollars each month. Twenty-four million dollars a year, in fact. And then you Liberals had the audacity not to ban the Tamil Tigers as a terrorist group while 31 other countries did, providing them with the license to kill and maim innocent, unarmed Sinhalese and Muslim civilians violating every clause of UN’s Human Rights Declaration. And the icing on the cake was when your Cabinet Ministers Paul Martin and Maria Minna together with other back benchers patronized a fund raising dinner for the Tamil Tiger terrorists in May 2000, organized by the Federation of Associations of Canadian Tamils (FACT, the front organization in Canada for the Tamil Tiger terrorists.

John and Alan, how dare you two Liberals try to paint the Sri Lankan government as a violator of Human Rights when the Tamils that you try to whitewash as the aggrieved persons, whose kin, the Tamil Tigers abduct and recruit children as young as aged 4-years to be child soldiers and brain-wash them to become suicide bombers. These are the rascals who pluck infants from the arms of their Sinhalese mothers and bash their heads on rocks violating their right to life, enjoying the sounds of the cracking skulls like the sounds of Christmas chestnuts being cracked between metal tongs.

And more over John and Alan, Canada has no monopoly on human rights, when we deny the rights to our own indigenous peoples. Aren’t you two embarrassed for Canada when our very own Louise Arbour says we aren’t committed to human rights as much as we like to portray ourselves as a country that is squeaky clean and have the gall to lecture other countries on human rights?

Louis Arbour, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights says that it is “Astonishing that Canada has refused to support the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples which passed in the General Assembly two months ago by a vote of 143-4.” This was in June 2006, and shockingly enough only Canada and Russia opposed this declaration during the UN Human Rights Council vote.

I suppose you two missed seeing aboriginal women marching through the Kahnawake reserve south of Montreal protesting against Ottawa’s refusal to adopt the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. And Ellen Gabriel, President of Quebec Native Woman quite rightly pointed out that, “Canada presents itself as a defender of human rights but it’s not living up to their reputation. It’s kind of hypocritical of Canada not to support this declaration.” How true!

John and Alan, what was more embarrassing was, Louis Arbour, our own Supreme Court justice, expressing that the refusal and luke warm support for other related UN initiatives was indicative of a nation reluctant to live up to its flagging international reputation as a leader in human rights and peacekeeping.

Gentlemen, let’s stop our pretense that we Canadians are a bunch of goody-two-shoes, and stop this masala-vadey boloney in presenting dubious petitions from your Tamil constituents blaming that the Sri Lankan Government is violating their human rights. Where does the Tamil Tiger terrorist violation of human rights fit into this equation?

So let’s cut out your gall and temerity to point your wagging fingers at a government that is trying to keep human rights violations to a minimum in the mitigating circumstances of a vicious separatist war fought with a sophisticated armoury and not with a primitive arsenal of stones, catapults and bamboo sticks. This sophisticated armoury is partly funded by your petitioners the Tamil-Canadians, which has killed over 70,000 Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims, the majority at the hands of the Tamil Tiger terrorists.

So let’s stop this nonsense of presenting dubious petitions of lies in Parliaments from your Tamil constituents.
