They come with blood on their hands to give the Government of Sri Lanka lessons on Human Rights.By Charles Perera
Human Rights have become the new means for the International Community to interfere into developing countries. It is said that when the British Viceroy had spoken of his concern for an independent India. Ghandi had retorted that the British should leave India, and let India manage its own affairs. That is the type of Independence we wanted from the colonialists, to manage our affairs the way we want. Now they are coming back to interfere into our independence to impose their methods, their democracy, their way of thinking. Why cannot the USA-the International Community leave us alone to decide what is good for us ?
Who are they any way to speak of human rights to developing countries. They are the product of the wholesale violation of human rights of peaceful nations, who committed genocide changing the historic , geographic and cultural wealth of whole nations. USA the champions of human rights rose from the ashes of the American Indians, their will to live, and their hope for a future. The American Indians were driven away from the places they hunted the bison , cultivated the fertile land ,to rocky mountainous areas depriving them of their hunting and lively hood in their homelands. Their land was plundered, and the American Indians were reduced to a phantom nation.
USA atrociously tortured the people of Vietnam, and devastated the country before they were finally chased away. France too were a brutal force first in Vietnam and then in Algeria. The Germans hunted the Jews like animals, stole their wealth and killed them in gas chambers. But Israel has not learnt any thing from that past and treats the Palestinians as the Germans treated the Jews.
The British divided the colonies according to communities, putting one community against the other. They put the majority against the minority by placing the persons from the minority communities in places of power and responsibility. The problem of a divided nation that we have to-day is the result of the British colonialism.
The British and the French divided the Arab Nations, to plunder their oil wealth. They did the same with Africa, making slaves of the people and taking away their minerals, to enrich themselves. The Canadians of to-day are the descendants of the British and the French who stole that lands from the Mohicans decimating the population.. These are the nations that speak of human rights of the Tamils in Sri Lanka, and suggest having out posts to protect the people. Japan is also a party to violation of human rights in ancient China and Korea.
Why are these former global violators of human rights suddenly interested in the violation of human rights in the developing countries ? They show a keen interested in the violation of human rights in Myanmar-Burma. But did not they do the same thing in China, Vietnam, India, and the rest of the countries, where ever they had been ? Now they have lost their undivided right for the natural resource of these countries, and the use of their strategic situation for their self interest, therefore they seek to divide these now independent developing countries, trying to make them the vassal states of the West.
Sri Lanka is becoming strategically important to America and the rest of the International Community as China and Russia are becoming an economic and military power in South East Asia. The West does not want to capitulate their hegemony in this part of the world to any other nation, least of all to China, India or Russia.
If Sri Lanka could be divided between the Tamils and Sinhalese, the West will be able to wheel power in the area by creating tension among the two "states" taking side with one against the other. That is why they are so keen about human rights in Sri Lanka now, as that is the only weapon they can use to interfere into the developing countries, and widen the communal divide, to make them virtual colonies dependant on the USA and the International Community.
It is the same with Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iran. The American war in Iraq is not for the freedom of the people of Iraq, but to acquire rights over Oil wells of Iraq. Afghanistan is important because of its strategic situation., as an American presence in Afghanistan could keep a check on Russia, China and India. The Americans and the EU will do every thing in their power to avoid a unity of China, Russia, India, and Iran.
It is in the in the interest of the USA and EU to weaken and break up developing countries in the South East Asia so that they will not all seek allegiance with a possible Third Power Block of China Russia and India, but they will instead be divided between the International Community and a Third Power Block. Therefore, they find various excuses such as violation of human rights to interfere in to the sovereignty of these states to weaken them and keep them apart. Burma or Myanmar has become all important to the USA and the EU, to get in there to promote their democracy, before China.
It is not the military intervention of America and the EU that could make the Military government of Myanmar see reason. It is China, India and Russia that may be able to settle the problem by negotiations. The proposed economic sanctions to Myanmar will only harden the military government. Therefore, a method different from what USA and the EU proposes should be found to settle the political problem in Myanmar.
UN is to-day an Agent of the USA. Its importance as an Organisation
of Nations is lost. America declared war in Iraq, over-stepping the
UN. The Agents of the UN cannot take independent decisions, and their
reports merely strengthen the International Community to intervene in
the affairs of sovereign states.
