Why did Wijedasa Rajapakse, waited so long to make his demands ? Is Chandrika Kumaratunga trying to fish in the troubled waters ?By Charles Perera
Even if the Government is to be defeated on the Budget, the President will still continue with an interim Government., until the next election. Therefore, one cannot understand the stampede the traitorous elements around the President are trying to create as a pre-budget show down. Some demands make one wonder why the honest Parliamentarians waited so long to make it an issue to cross the floor of the Parliament to sit with the opposition. Why now with an important budget, which is important for the security of the country and the people, presented to the Parliament, Mr. Wijedasa Rajapakse decides to quit the Government ?
It is strange that with the terrorists being cornered by the SLSF, and Prabhakaran's days are almost being numbered, the International Community and all Foreign Organisations are all out to give a life line to the terrorists, Mr; Wijedasa Rajapakse has found it necessary to quit the government demanding the dismissal of 10 Ministers and top bureaucrats , and asking the number of Cabinet of Ministers to be reduced to 30. There is some thing fishy in his absurd demand. He should know that such a demand cannot be met within days !!! . The question again is why did he waited so long, and made it just one week before the vote on the budget ?
Minster of Justice Dilan Perera's reason for leaving the Central Committee of the SLFP is because the President had accepted murderers and rapists. The question is whether Mr; Dilan Perera is accusing the persons' in question on hearsay evidence, or had they been found guilty by a court of law . His decision is also questionable knowing his former allegiance to the then President Chandrika Kumaratunga.
Apparently the ex-President Chandrika Kumaratunga seems to be working hard behind "curtains" trying "to fish in the troubled waters". Arjuna Ranatunga, had mentioned that he too would not vote in favour of the budget as no allocations have been made in the budget for 2008 for development of sports. That is a flimsy excuse. But what is relevant, is what he had added. He had said that he had been requested by the former President Chandrika Kumaratunga to join the political party she is forming. Is it coincidence ?
In the meantime some of the pro LTTE political analysts, like Professor Viyangoda, and anti-war Humanitarian Kumara Rupasinghe have come back to the political seen with their analysis with a penchant for LTTE terrorists, against the President.
In the Meantime Nirupama Rajapakse who seem to have been left out from
government perks seem to harbour a grouse against the President. And
four Bikkhus from JHU have also be named as likely to take a leap on
to the opposite side. What could their grouse be and what bait has been
thrown to rope them in, to the opposition ? |
