AS TAMIL TIGERS INTENSIFY ITS CLAYMORE WAR MANY CIVILIANS GETS HURT AND ONE CIVILIAN DIES WITH FOUR ARMY SOLDIERS

While many LTTE boats were being caught or destroyed by Indian and Sri lankan security forces while allegedly attempting to transport components necessary to fabricate claymore bombs many civilians were also getting injured or killed by LTTE claymore bomb explosions.

In the claymore bomb explosion in Jaffna’s Old Park area a seven year old child was killed and three other civilians were seriously injured.

Army spokesman brigadier Prasad Samarasinghe said this claymore bomb had been triggered by a remote device and the mine was attached to a parked motor bicycle.

The bomb also injured 10 army soldiers who were going on leave while four of them have already succumbed to their injuries.

The army spokesman said the claymore mine had been exploded without any regard to people who had taken part in the Hindu water cutting ceremony after the Deepavali.

Ten soldiers were also injured and four among them later succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.
The LTTE also exploded a claymore mine at Vavuniya but there were no casualties there.
