Sri Lanka Association of Geneva hosts Year End Party

The Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations Office at Geneva
18th December 2007

The Sri Lanka Association of Geneva (SLAG) held its Year End Party on Saturday December 1, 2007 from 19:00 to 01:30 at the Salle Polyvalente d'Avully. It was well attended by Sri Lankans as well as foreigners living in Geneva and other cities such as Bern and Zurich. The party was enjoyed by adults and children alike.

A group comprised of 3 young Sri Lankans provided music to the event. During the first half of the event, a Santa Claus came and distributed presents among children. The guests were then served a typical Sri Lankan dinner prepared by the association members.

The dinner was followed by a raffle draw. A number of prizes were won by some lucky participants of the event. Madam Sanja de Silva Jayatilleka gave away the First Prize of the raffle draw, return air tickets to Sri Lanka for two people. The party continued with music and dance till the wee small hours of Sunday morning.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka who was the chief guest commended the Committee headed by SLAG President Mr. Chandika Indikadahena for organizing the event. He also congratulated the band. The Ambassador encouraged his staff to build links with SLAG and the expatriate Sri Lankan community in Switzerland and pledged to work closely with them all to make future events even more successful.
