Sri Lanka and Patriotism

Shripal Nishshanka Fernando, USA

At the juncture of a crucial moment in a nation's crisis, the responsibility bears upon each and every citizen, the people who were born there and anybody who loves peace on earth, to be united and bring an honourable solution. This simple and clear determination does not require of any philosophy or theory, but morals and ethics of a person are more than sufficient. Once a justified and peaceful solution is achieved the benefits of that can be enjoyed by everybody irrespective of who sided for it or not.

Today Sri Lanka is witnessing an era which is unparallel to her history, with hundreds of traitors who are dangerously opportunistic, to betray the motherland. Despite one or two kings who sold the country to outsiders in the olden days, we saw consecutive modern state leaders who went out of their ways - or still go- to sell Sri Lanka to terrorists and other countries. In mere aspirations of being in the power or to achieve power, they do not think twice before committing the most shameful and disgusting acts.

The journalists and news media more often tempt to forget their sole responsibility of contributing towards a better tomorrow or a more prospective world. The news they bring to the people are mostly destructive, dangerous and horrendous. The journalists with an honourable vision will never surrender to any form of fame or be cheaper to be bought but will execute their respectful duty in an intelligent manner. When everybody else is trying to sell to the wrongful and distorted news to the world to bring shame and discredit to the country, a real and ideal journalist will stand with courage and will, to fight them. As the history witnesses, these courageous journalists will be honoured and the world shall be indebted to them. Many talented journalists are being bought by crooked news media barons and they misuse their talents to achive the narrow minded goals. So if a journalist does not act to stand against this but continue to be used because he or she is well looked after, then their low qualities will bring harm to their reputations naturally.

There is a fine example and lesson that we saw recently in Israel. When Israel was badly struck by Hamas, the news media in Israel paid minimum attention to the coverage. They had buried the news of attack by Hamas among other news of their inventions, progress and development and other articles. Israel does have opposition parties and they too have their own news agencies. They did not go to cheaper levels to cover these attacks to bring attack on the government, but they united to defeat the common enemy by providing productive and tactful news and facts. That is my friend is journalism.

Today in Sri Lanka, only a handful amount of true journalists can be found. The power and the money in traitor's hands and in their news agencies try to diminish and destroy the true journalists but they will not succeed. Their victory is limited and short.

The hilarious and spineless jokers, who are with traitor Ranil Wickckramasinghe today, will go into the history as people who not only exhibited their poor knowledge of ethics and politics but also who are worse than animals to act without thinking the cause and the effect. Ranil Wickckramasinghe dreams of a separate state in Sri Lanka for terrorists more than the architect of that treacherous scheme. His followers who worship and respect him shall be answered by the people real soon and people will then start teaching them the A, B, C of true politics. Sri Lanka badly needs an intelligent opposition leader today. Any bets?

People like Chandrika, Mangala and Sripathi are also useless equally who do more harm than good to the country. Mangala should observe the noble silence if he wants to preserve the good deed he did to the country. By mud sliding the great defense forces, that protect the country around the clock, from a most ruthless and brutal terrorist organization, Mangala and Sripathi dig their own holes foolishly.

By providing safe haven to terrorist leaders and their families to go abroad and helping the terrorist organization indirectly, Chandrika betrayed the noble average Tamil person in Sri Lanka big time. She and her brother have recently become the two jokers of Sri Lankan deck of cards of politics.
Sri Lanka has a legitimate government and it has a transparent policy which is stated to the whole world. Again, nothing is perfect and so does the government. So, when the government does mistakes, it's the responsibility of the people to show them and see that it is corrected and enjoy the freedom of democracy and free speech. The journalist and agencies of news media who work for terrorists and traitors shall be corrected or be stopped by all means. That is a part of the process towards a peaceful country Sri Lanka and subsequently towards a better world!

Dear readers and journalists, let's build up a world nicer and better!
