Blake, and Beckett talk to us about Human Rights Violations with their hands red with the blood of innocent people who have been killed in their wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

(ICJ should set up their field station else where. We have had enough of foreign investigators)

By Charles Perera

Dominique de Villepin opposing the American Intervention in Iraq said, “…. we believe that military intervention would be the worst solution…” Germany and Russia agreed with France and opposed military intervention in Iraq.

But Bush authorised its Armed Forces to invade Iraq to rid Iraq of its alleged stock pile of weapons of mass destruction, depending on a resolution of the American Congress, supported by Great Britain. Koffi Annan said after the invasion of Iraq, “…..I have indicated it was not in conformity with the UN Charter. From our point of view, from the Charter point of view it was illegal.

Blake, Becket, New York Based Human Rights Watch, Steve Mann, Rush Holt , being vociferous defenders of violation of Human rights in Sri Lanka , please note that the invasion of Iraq by USA and UK was illegal, and in that illegal war USA and UK have violated the human rights to such an extent that they have forfeited the right to accuse any other country for violation of human rights. The only way to put right their crime against humanity is to at least be considerate in making accusations against the government of Sri Lanka, and help Sri Lanka in their attempt to rid itself of the terrorists who have become a real danger to its people.

If you would reflect on the following facts with regard to your wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, you will appreciate better the problem of Sri Lanka, and understand that the government of Sri Lanka is not after all a violator of Human Rights of it Citizens. The terrorist situation in Sri Lanka has made
it impossible for the government to attend to the economic and social problems of the country in a more positive way. Therefore external help to solve the terrorist problem in Sri Lanka, is imperative at the present moment. The constant accusation of violation of human rights on every move the government takes to solve the more urgent terrorist problem has become a hindrance for government activity.

It is ignoble for USA and UK to accuse the government of Sri Lanka for violation of Human rights, when one sees from the following facts the extent to which USA and UK have blatantly violated the Human rights of thousands of civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan, in an illegal war. The figures were taken from the website:http://www.unknownnews.net/casualty.html/

A total of 766,880 people has been killed , and 1,467,868 injured in Afghanistan and Iraq.

War in Iraq:
720,461 Iraqi Civilians Killed and 1,296,830 seriously Injured
30,000 Iraqi troops killed and 90,000 seriously injured

3,123 USA troops killed and 45,798 seriously injured
256 Coalition troops killed and 786 seriously injured

War in Afghanistan:
3,485 Afghan Civilians Killed, and 6,173 seriously injured
8,587 Afghan troops killed, and 25,761 seriously injured

357 USA Troops killed, and 1,071 seriously injured
223 coalition troops killed, and 669 seriously injured

In the Al Qaeda terrorist attack of the 11 September ,2001, in New York, the total number of people killed is 2,973. The numbers killed in Afghanistan in the USA-UK War is four times as many as the number killed in New York on 11 September, and in Iraq 252 times as many. The soldiers wounded and maimed in these wars will live with their physical and psychological scarce, making their lives and the lives of their families a continuous suffering.

So much for the violation of human rights, by those who come to preach us peace .

The Government of Sri Lanka has no lesson to take from UK and USA who are the worst perpetrators of violence against human rights, and it is in the interest of every one to allow the Government of Sri Lanka to fight its terrorism on its own. Only way the Human Rights camp could help the government of Sri Lanka, and the civilians hemmed between the terrorists and the government, is to get their governments to help Sri Lanka to settle the terrorist problem as early as possible by giving it military help if it can. If they cannot do so, please leave us alone with a our pains and tribulations.
