TERRORISTS ADMIT THEIR MILITARY AND MORAL SETBACKS

A.A.M.NIZAM MATARA.

Sri Lanka’s reactionary media is getting increasingly saturated with calls for ceasing military operations, demand for commencing negotiations, devolve power to end the conflict, grant concessions to the terrorist outfit, so on and so forth. The shameless and spineless political opportunists, NGO vultures nourishing on foreign revenues, loony leftists, the media mafia, and the Embassy lobby flouting their legitimate rights are making these gibberish demands to force believe the masses that the fascist terrorist outfit could be made amenable to a negotiated settlement if the government act as they desire. The futility of these demands lay exposed in an official article posted in TamilNet on Sunday 24th June, and in an interview given by terrorist Tamil Selvan to the same website and published on 25th June.

The article posted on 24th June, is highly critical of the international community and based on the time of its publication it can be assumed that the article reflects the terrorist outfit’s angry reaction over curbing of its operational activities in some western countries, which were main sources of revenue and strong citadels of propaganda in the recent past.

The article kicks-off blaming the Britishers for experimenting in a united Ceylon despite the genesis of the political divide that was around one hundred years old. Then referring to India, it says that when all sections of the Tamils looked upon India as their saviours, the Sinhala Buddhist politicians effectively played international cards and deceived Jawaharlal Nehru and Lal Bahadur Shastri through Non-Alignment and relationship with China and Pakistan, to deceive them and make them sacrifice the interests of even the Tamils of their own Indian origin. Extolling Indira Gandhi as the first Indian leader to recognize the Tamil struggle blames Rajiv Gandhi for mishandling the issue by becoming gullible to deceptions of the Sinhala politicians. It accuses him for spoiling all possibilities of resolving the crisis.

Without naming the countries that it blames, the article accuses that some powerful countries have entered into Sri Lanka’s conflict in the garb of International Community. It criticises these countries for supporting the territorial integrity of what it says “an erring and collapsing state”, and for equating their struggle with international terrorism. Rejecting the neutrality of the IC it says that the nomenclature of IC itself is a smokescreen for an alignment of oppressors. It points out that the leading member of the IC won't be existing today, had there been no war of independence for its emergence. Condemning the International Community for endorsing some freedom struggles and negating others it castigates it as the Big Brother of the 21st Century.

Meticulous reading of this article however shows that despite criticism of the war strategy by the anti-national elements Sri Lankan forces have made a great success not only in breaking the myth of the invincibility of the terrorist enemy but also have demoralised the arrogant psyche of the enemy. All patriotic Sri Lankans should be thankful for the gallant forces for effecting this remarkable shift. The article calls for analysing the phenomenon of LTTE than the organisation itself, saying that the phenomenon is the manifestation of a deeply hurt and bleeding society. In an indirect form of admitting its flaws, the article states that any flaws on the part of the LTTE have to be dealt with by that very society and not by others and requests the IC to give a chance to the LTTE and the Tamil society to prove their credibility.

Strengthening the view that our gallant forces are in the process of decimating the terrorists, the article states that it is time for them to extend friendly hands to Muslims, former militants of various organizations and like-minded people; recognizing their roles and sacrifices and forgetting all bitter legacies of the past. This is veiled admittance of its dearth of manpower and fighting forces.

Delving on the much demanded devolution of power, the articles says that the Tamil national question has outgrown to absorb any form of constitutional reforms and it has attained full nationhood running a parallel government and having conventional forces of land, sea and air, achieved entirely through self effort.

The article concludes that anyone who harbours a wish to see a united and prosperous Island of Sri Lanka has to first concede Thamizh Eezham and allow Tamils to build the state peacefully.

The article in its entirety clearly dispels all solutions being offered by the selfish gangs opposed the militaristic approach of the government and reiterates that the terrorist outfit do not have any respect for the so-called international community and despite their military setbacks they are not willing to accept any constitutional or devolution arrangements and their stand on the separate State remain firm and unchanged.

Even in the interview given by terrorist Tamil Selvan, he find faults with some members of the co-chairs for supporting the government militarily and through other means. He emphasises the need for reinforcement of the CFA and indirectly admits their defeat in the East. He says that throughout its war history they have suffered some defeats but has regained the losses subsequently. He refers to the current status similar to such a temporary defeat and claims in his typical style of making hollow threats that very soon Sri Lankan forces would realise that it has been trapped.

These documents give a clear indication of the current predicament of the terrorist outfit and the successes being achieved by our gallant forces in defeating the terrorists not only militarily but also psychologically. Whenever our forces achieved similar success in the past external intervention and betrayal by treacherous elements had reversed such successes facilitating the terrorists to get themselves reinvigorated. The government and the defence establishment should stand firm without getting subdued to such intrigues and should continue with the current exercises with much determination and dedication until the strength of the terrorists is diminished and the population is liberated from terrorist oppression.

Our gallant forces can certainly fulfil the craving of the masses to free this nation from the terrorist menace and once again establish a cordial and peaceful nation.
