RANIL WICKREMASINGHE WAS THE PATRON OF THE TERRORIST AIR-WING

The predawn aerial attack on the Katunayake airbase carried out by the tiger terrorists displays the desparation caused to them by current military operations and their determination to win over the illusory Eelam by segregating the Sri Lankan nation, before they face total elimination. Although the attack is an extremely serious event militarywise the government and the masses should not allow the treacherous elements who were lying dormant to raise their ugly heads and capitalize on this event to demand for a halt in military operations and move onto the peace facade that ruined this country and strengthened the terrorists. Further, this event strongly demands that the government should not show any mercy to anyone who helps the terrorists directly or indirectly whatever the status or ranks such traitors hold, and the urgency to place the country on a war footing and wipe out this menace completely regardless of consequences, and hardships. Decades of suffering endured by the masses should end with a final and resolute thrust by the forces fervently assisted by the masses. Each and every Sri Lankan should join this endeavour, in whatever capacity they could as participants performing their national obligation for libation of the motherland.

Even before the dust of the incident settled the treacherous gang, who deserve to be treated firmly, has initiated their dirty game of cautioning the Sri Lankans about the bleak economic prospects, the superiority of the terrorists, and the governments inability to confront and defeat the terrorists. The paid servant of the Norway and the Terrorists, the Sinhala Koti Jehan Perea, writing in the Daily Mirror asserting that the previous attack on the airport caused immense economic setbacks to the country, brags that the inability of the military to destroy the attacking LTTE aircraft open the possibility for further such attacks and claims that this incident proves the inability of the government's military strategy to subdue the LTTE Conferring supremacy to terrorists over the government forces, this treacherous mercenary emphasises that unless a political solution is presented to the LTTE as a precondition Sri Lanka will not be able to escape from the trap of war. He also makes use of the opportunity to raise the wild accusation against applying the prevention of terrorism legislation to detain and interrogate suspects and call the political stooges of his calibre to organise themselves as a formidable force to counter such detentions and interrogations.

As per intelligence and military experts from the sub-continent and elsewhere, attempts made by the terrorist outfit to establish an air-wing suffered a set back with the murder of the Auronautic Engineer V.Sornalingam, known as Col. Shanker by Lt. Col. Muthalef of the Long Range Deep Penetration Unit. Eastblishment of an air-wing by the terrorist outfit was the brain-child of this slain Shanker. However, the so-called ceasefire period dawned with the ignominious Ranil-Prabhakaran MOU facilitated the establishment and strengthening of this unit in addition to paving the way for smuggling in several shipments of arms and ammunition. These experts point out that although intelligence services did report the build up of this capability by the terrorists, the Sri Lankan government headed by Ranil Wickremsasinghe chose to ignore the reports fearing that it would jeopardise its peace parleys with the terrorists. These sources also indicate that the terrorist outfit posses two light aircrafts and two small helicopters, shipped in parts and assembled locally.

With the blessings of Ranil Wickremasinghe and under the guise of peace talks the terrorist outfit also built airstrips at Iranamadu and at Pudukuduiruppu (off Mullaitivu). Hagrup Haukland, Head of the toothless monitoring mission sanctioned by Ranil's MOU, just to give a bogus legitimacy to his dealings with the terrorists, speaking at a function in Colombo in June, 2005 confirmed the existence of the Iranamadu airstrip, and warned that any action by the Government to destroy this airstrip by bombing would result in a total war. He also threatened that they would pull out from their Mission completely if the Sri Lankan airforce carried out bombing raids on the airstrip.

At a time it had exhausted its stock of missiles, it was due to the infinite patronage provided by the Junk-UNP leader Ranil Wickremasinghe and his cohorts, the Norwegians, the bogus Monitoring Mission, and the sluggish international community the terrorist outfit became capable of acquiring and strengthening this aerial technology, thus opening up a new vista for its terrorist adventures.

While there are conflicting reports about the air-borne point of the terrorist aircraft, since some reports mention about locating the aircraft in Vavuniya, the mission undoubtedly was to destroy the K-firs and Migs. The capabilities, life span and other technical details of the Mig bombers happened to get forcibly exposed in order to counter the recent allegations made by Palmyrah Federalist elements, and it needs to be investigated thoroughly whether these allegations were made deliberately to help the terrorists to acquire necessary information about the air-force bombers as it remained only privy with a handful of high-ranking officials in the Defense establishment.

The shameless leader of the Junk-UNP in a disgraceful attempt to capitalize politically on the critical situation, claims that the air-capacity of the LTTE was hitherto unknown and the reported killing of three Air Force Officers and wounding others was a serious matter. Where was his sympathy lying when all our gifted and talented intelligence officers were brutally murdered by the terrorists under his own patronage? Was he in a deep slumber when the terrorists massacred unarmed innocent villagers and commuters? While this notorious traitor has attempted to hide his patronage to the terrorist air-wing claiming that it was hitherto unknown, his party the Junk-UNP has called for a negotiated solution thereby indirectly calling for a halt to the military operations and accord the terrorists a respite to further strengthen their military capabilities under the guise of negotiations as it was allowed when they were in power.

Further to this, the Kandy district Junk-UNP MP, Luxman Kiriella, the latest mouthpiece of the Colombo Mischievous Circle serving to protect the underworld while blaming the government for what they call abductions have attempted to politicise this event of national threat calling for the resignation of the Defense Secretary. Was it because the attempts made by the terrorist leader to eliminate the Defense Secretary failed that all these paid servants of the megalomaniac are targeting the Defense Secretary directly and indirectly and demand his resignation?

Neither the gallant forces, nor the patriotic masses nor the government should get discouraged in their determination to wipe out terrorism from the precious soil of this nation, due to this unfortunate incident. There had been incidents of similar attempts made in many countries by using light aircraft. Even such an aircraft recently entered the lawn of the White House despite the word’s heaviest security screening they have. There had been incidents of such futile attempts made by Biafrans in Nigeria and Hizbolla against the Israelis. Immediate assistance should be sought from friendly countries to acquire the necessary technology to face and defeat the new threat.

The former Indian diplomat B.Raman commenting on the incident says that the terrorist leaderships desperation is shown in the risk they took to launch this daring effort, and even in the attempts they are making to smuggle war material from Tamil Nadu, risking the arrest of some of their collaborators. He says that this desperate situation has arisen owing to the continuous beating it receives in the Eastern Province.

If we are to live as a noble and splendid nation, no mercy should be shown to the terrorists or their collaborators hereafter, and all attempts should be made to proceed with the military operation until the terrorist menace is completely wiped out, and all masses being oppressed under the jackboot of the terrorists are liberated.
