Choksy’s lopsided logic. And the JVP leader talking through his hat.

By Charles Perera

In a country which is not short of intelligent scholars, academics, lawyers and journalists it is a pity that UNP cannot get some one who can understand the reality of the political and military situation in the country to make proposals and suggestions to resolve the ethnic problem .

It appears Choksy is the man behind Ranil, who pushes him to appease the terrorists. It looks, as if it is Choksy who would like terrorism to continue so that one day Ranil may get the necessary votes to qualify to be the next President. It is high time that Choksy understands that the LTTE cannot be counted upon as a political force, as long as they have not laid down their small and heavy arms. The LTTE as a terrorists group has been defeated; now paralyzed, and will soon be dead as a door nail. That being the case or ground situation, there is no point putting up the final draft of the constitution before the LTTE terrorists for their approval.

The LTTE terrorists, do not and never did represent the Tamil People of our country -Sri Lanka. The Tamils are like the Sinhala and the Muslim(other than Hakeem), intelligent, patriots, who love this country and want it to develop and progress as a Unitary State and not broken and cannibalized like the LTTE terrorists want it to be. Therefore the UNP proposal for the solution of the ethnic conflict is good to be burnt and the ashes put into the toilet and flushed lest it pollutes the atmosphere.

What the President has done cannot now be undone, but accepting defectors from UNP giving them Ministerial appointments is the biggest mistake committed by the President and a wrong done to the country by him.

It was Mahinda Rajapakse’s other mistake to have accepted Hakeem into the government. His demand for a separate District for Muslims is unpardonable.
That shows that he is a man for division rather than unity. Sri Lanka should exist as a Unitary State without being divided in to large Communities. As it is the Sinhala, Tamil and Muslims live together in different Districts, therefore what is the necessity to identify certain Districts as Muslim. As Jinnha did to India, Hakeem may soon ask for a separate Muslim State.

The President Mahinda Rajapakse had been forced to commit this error of taking the UNP defectors and Hakeem into his government, because JVP lead by Somawansa Amarasinghe became his traitor, putting forward its 20 conditions, when JVP was twice invited to join him.

JVP is blinded by coming into power as a single party, and therefore unable to see that a leftist Marxists political party cannot , come into power under a Parliamentary Democratic system. No where in the world has it happened. JVP is not going to be an exception to this fact. If it wants to come into power as a single party, JVP has to do it through a revolution, and it will be going back to what they had started with, and becoming a terrorist group in the South.

JVP leader Amarasinghe’s dream is now to form a JVP opposition to government in the Parliament. What a great ambition ?. Somawansa Amarasinghe will lead JVP to defeat and ridicule. It is high time that the JVP throws him over board and start afresh as a political party of the people to join with at least a half-way Socialist Government and change it to do socialist reforms.
