Do the Donor States really want the Government to end terrorism in Sri Lanka ?
By Charles Perera

It is better to fight terrorism unto its last our way, rather than have the Conditional loans of the "International Money Lenders."

In Eastern Batticaloa on a tip given to the police, a LTTE terrorist guerrilla was cornered in a Hindu temple . The guerrilla committed suicide by swallowing a cyanide capsule. The members of the International Community should open their eyes on this report to recognise that the tip had been given by a fellow Tamil living in Batticaloa, who have effectively had enough of terrorists. There had been many instances of the Tamil people tipping off the government forces on placing of claymore bombs by the terrorists, or hiding arms in abandoned houses in Jaffna.

Therefore, it is wrong to say that the Government and the Security Forces are violating the human rights of the people. The Tamil people under the jackboots of terrorists know that neither the government nor the security forces are responsible for the violation of the human rights of the Tamil or Muslim people in the terrorist controlled areas. The violation of human rights is a word easily mouthed by the International Community, the UN and the Human Rights Organisation to bring the Government, and the Security Forces of Sri Lanka to disrepute.

While the war planes of Security forces pounded the terrorist camp at Toppiagala, three terrorists were trying to place a bomb inside a car used by a Government Official. The only reaction of the donor is to seek to stop bloodshed. It is strange the Donor states-and International Community , are seeking to stop blood shed in Sri Lanka Government's just "war" against the terrorists, while the American and British war planes pound Iraq and Afghanistan killing even children. The land in Iraq, Afghanistan , and Palestine " is a carpet of red blood" , which the International Community seemingly colour blind do not seem to see.

The Human-rights Organisations and the International Community are powerless where they should be more vigilant and active. Today it is the 1500th day that Ingrid Bettancourt a French National is kept a captive by the Colombian rebels. What action has the International Community, Human Rights Organisations, the Red Cross, and the UN taken to get her released ? It is easy to talk to the government of Sri Lanka and issue strictures, but the they are powerless like the worms in the face of other nations that can stand against them.

It is right that the President of Sri Lanka has said that if the Foreign Governments want to give aid on conditions it is better that they keep it. They do not give aid to developing countries with a genuine desire to help them to rise above economic difficulties, and progress. But the aid they give is utilised as a means to interfere into the governance of the country. China developed mostly on its own , because the International Community could not interfere into their activities. Burma too keeps away the " International Money Lenders", as their interference would be worst than the money they give. It is justifiable that we too demand the International Community to give any aid they would like to give without any conditions attached to them.

But unfortunately there are far too many traitors within the country, such as Ranil Wickramasinghe, Mangala Samaraweera, Sooriaratchi, and now the JVP, who oppose the attempt the Government of Mahinda Rajapakse with his able Security forces are taking to end terrorism that had kept Sri Lanka from developing into a great nation. They find fault with Gotabhaya Rajapakse who is doing a remarkable job in the Governmen's fight against terrorism. The President has his brothers appointed to key posts as he can trust and depend on them. When President Kennedy was asked why he appointed Robert Kennedy as the Attorney General he had said that it was because he was his brother.
