Exterminate the LTTE Leaders before the Next Attack

Dilrook Kannangara

Some media played it again. They published articles that cricket builds goodwill between the GoSL and the LTTE. Why did the LTTE declare that they would hold a truce during cricket matches? This terror plan culminated on the day of the Cricket WC final. Some fools claimed cricket can heal war wounds and the terrorist leader is a big cricket fan. We now know the reasons why the murderer of Alfred Durraiappa, Gamini Dissanaike and R Premadasa loves cricket so much! The most important lesson from the cricket finals is that don’t let him stay for too long like Adam Gilchrist did; its time to take his life. A reciprocal truce was declared by military authorities according to some reports. Why defense authorities are so feeble minded to accept the terror ‘truce’? How long are they going to fool the financiers of the war, the people of this poor country? If not for my article that appeared in the Lankaweb yesterday, there were dozens of articles drawing attention to the possibility of terror air attacks on economic nerve centres.

After the 29 April attack the incumbent defense secretary’s stay may not be so certain. Public support for him is definitely waning if you listen to the men out there in the streets. Inaction or slow response now will result in more attacks. It should have been expected that terrorists will target economic targets with their new found air power. Surely, not all LTTE air assets have been destroyed. However, as the terrorists’ web site reported, they have targeted, among others, SLAF fuel supply. This speaks volumes about the effectiveness of the recent SLAF campaign against the LTTE. Terrorists are petrified that the SLAF will soon take the priced target, the LTTE leader. Also the terror website made an undue emphasis on the allegation that terrorist air attack took place after the SLAF raid same morning. All this point out to the persistent victories SLAF scored against the terrorists.

What should we do now? The best response is to continue air raids on LTTE controlled areas with greater magnitude. Modern day warfare is also about endurance; the party seems on the outward as less enduring becomes the target of more attacks.

There is surely some damage to LTTE air assets; only one (or may be two planes) carried out terror attacks. Given the gravity of the situation affecting the LTTE, they got to have used their full capacity as threatened by the terror supremo’s barber. What happened to the other planes? Most likely destroyed. It is important that the remaining assets are also destroyed soon by the SLAF. There are real-time satellite imagery service provided by few companies specialized in this area. This type of images would provide unquestionable information on where the TAF is hiding. The terrorists’ web site gives us another hint; it claims repeatedly that the TAF planes returned safely to VANNI. This means these planes aren’t in Vanni, at least in Vanni main area. North Mullaitivu, Mannar and North West areas can be strong candidates for providing a hiding place for LTTE air assets.

There is also another intriguing matter in one of the very famous free satellite image providers (they are even more famous for their search engine). Certain parts of the LTTE controlled areas are grayed out for some reason! I personally do not think this is a mistake, omission or a technical matter; mystery deepens when you carefully analyze these areas. They have not been ‘purified’ to some extent; cloud cover and shades of clouds are visible. I do not think this image provider has anything to do with collusion; but there is the slight possibility of a request from an interested party not to treat this area like any other; may be it is for a good reason and requested by the GoSL, etc. May be not……However, the point is there are some important locations hiding in this vast geographical area.

It is may be atypical that some UNP supporters are jubilant about the terror attacks. They should realize that if the advent of the ‘raja yoga’ for Ranil is thus, it is surely a ‘henahuru yoga’ for the country when Ranil attains ‘raja yoga’. Do we need such a bad ominous individual to lead the country? Not if you are right minded.

We again urge the authorities to consider cheep but effective airborne surveillance systems. It is anybody’s guess that if the terrorist positions are left un-neutralized, they will again cause havoc around May Day and Vesak days. They may even try to repeat the bloody 1993 May Day.

Another nonsense that we have to live with is the circus of human rights clowns. Terrorizing millions of civilians by the flying terrorists (in Sri Lanka) doesn’t fall into human rights violations in their texts. They value the ‘liberation’ struggle of the terrorists more than human rights violations of law abiding citizens. We should learn from this; we should place our ‘liberation’ struggle (liberation from terrorists) above human rights concerns. There is no practical justification to disregard the majority’s human rights for the protection of rights of a few terrorists/ terror suspects, etc. This is the view held the world over by all civilized countries. Consider capital punishment levied on drug traffickers in Singapore; the offender is put to death to protect the large society.

We urge Gotabhaya Rajapakse to live up to his name. Whatever with ‘Gota’; ‘Abhaya’ refers to an individual who alleviates fear from the minds of the population. We have passed the tipping point in this 24 year old war; there is no going back. It is either the terrorists or us. It is upto the powerful defense secretary to make the choice; although it is so obvious, majority Sri Lankans do not believe as at this day that the correct choice is made firmly. Let us go the extra hard mile now to finish off the terrorists than rest for now and start it all over again. Kick start this by launching a scintillating retaliation attack; lest the fate of the ostrich will befall us.
