Prabhakaran's cowardly act of condemning to death 21 brainwashed Tamil Youth, to fulfil his deplorable wishes should be condemned by the civilized world.
By Charles Perera
When you think of the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in the midst of all the people around him, one always feels that the assassin could have been stopped before he shot or at least after the first shot was fired. It is so in most of these events there is always the feeling that it could have somehow or other been stopped. But the fact is, that it is only after the action had taken place we think of what could have been done to stop it.
It is the same with the black tigers entry into the Air Force Camp. Every body tries to explain that it could have been stopped and puts the success of it to complacency, security lapse, negligence of duty etc., on the part of the Air Force personnel.
This is kamma, that those who were the victims of it had to suffer. Any amount of explaining cannot rectify the situation. Investigations will show , negligence, or inside informants were the cause of the success of the attack. But neither the deaths, nor the damage caused to material could be restored.
Lot of praise is being given to the terrorist for carrying out a successful attack at the Air Force Camp. But in reality it was the most shameful , and a most cruel way to have organised a military attack. The young men and women-the black tigers, who had been brain washed to carry out what ever the maniac Prabhakaran proposes them to do, they have to do, knowing well that they have been condemned to death on being selected for the mission.
The only pleasure they have had was having a meal with the blood thirsty maniac their thalaivar, being photographed with him before they take plane to the destination to cause maximum damage, kill as many and die with them. In war one does not know at what moment death comes. But to be told that they are being sent to die to fulfil the dream of a man who himself fears to face death, does not any way deserve admiration of the organisation of that adventure where 21 young persons were condemned to death. They did not die for a cause, but they died to satisfy the wishes of a mad man, a murderer, and a criminal of the worst sort.
Therefore, it is time to stop writing about heroism, intelligence, organizing ability, and clever military strategy of the terrorists, who are a menace not only to Sri Lanka, but also to the Tamil Youth in the areas controlled by the Terrorist Prabhakaran. It is time that the civilized world help the government in its dive rid Sri Lanka of terrorism.
