RACIST HAKEEM IS AN ENEMY OF MUSLIMS AND A TRAITOR TO THE NATION – Part IIA.A.M.NIZAM MATARAThe installation of Ranil Wickremasinghe’s UNP Government by the combined reactionary forces resulted in a multitude of problems, especially for the people in the Eastern Province and for people in the rural villages bordering the Eastern and Northern Provinces. The formation of the new government took place just after 9/11 tragedy that shook the world. Countries all over the world vividly realizing the danger terrorist outfits portends to their countries, world peace and humanity united as a single force to combat terrorism and eradicate this menace from the surface of this earth. Under this environment, in the guise of appreciating the new government, the Tiger terrorists made a cunning move to declare a unilateral ceasefire to deter the world retribution falling on them. Witless to comprehend this blatant hoax, and waylaid by the pro-Terrorist Norwegians, Ranil Wickremasinghe signed the illegal and ignominious Ceasefire Agreement (CFA) and handed over a vast area of Sri Lankan territory to the Tiger Terrorists. Never in the history of the world, a ruler of a country has disowned a part of the country and handed over that disowned territory to the very enemies of the country, in this manner. While the government was over enthusiastic about the CFA and projected it as a great achievement with NGO vultures and reactionary elements backing the government propaganda up to the hilt, the terrorists utilized the impunity it gained through the CFA to consolidate its foundation for the Eelam goal. Within a few months it started taxation, extortion and intimidation as a precursor for ethnic cleansing in the East. The terrorists in order to gain control of the strategic positions in Muttur and its environs attacked the Muslims in Muttur town which resulted in clashes between the terrorists and the Muslims in the Muttur and Vlachcheenai areas. 27 Muslims were killed and several millions worth of Muslim properties were torched. Rauf Hakeem being a powerful Minister of the government did not take any action either to prevent these clashes, to condemn the terrorist atrocities, to protect the Muslims or at least demand compensation to the victims or victimized families. Representations made by Eastern Province Muslims to the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe against these terrorist atrocities failed to provide solutions since Ranil valued his new found relationship with the terrorist outfit more important than the victimized Eastern Muslims. Racist Hakeem failed to support a No Confidence Motion against the Defense Minister Tilak Marapana on his failure to prevent the atrocities. When terrorist atrocities against the Eastern Province Muslims reached its zenith and pressure mounted on the government, Ranil Wickremasinghe without exercising his authority directed Hakeem to meet the terrorist leader and sort out the problems as Ranil Wickremasinghe knew that his machan Terrorist leader will buy over this man and make him a dutiful obliging puppet. A bogus agreement was signed between the two individuals and before long it was disowned and snubbed by the terrorist Tamilselvan and others. On the eve of the 2004 General Elections several million rupees were released for the Oluvil Harbour project, under a special cabinet approval on an emergency basis. The people of Oluvil who got benefited or the development carried out from these funds remain unknown. Similary, to float the peace façade between Ranil Wickremasinghe and Prabhakaran the Norwegian government provided 24 Million rupees for establishing a Muslim Peace Secretariat. Also as per an Island report dated 29.08.05 the UNDP released 40,000 U.S.Dollars for this Peace Secretariat and another U.S.$ 50,000 in support of peace related projects. What happened to these funds and who got benefited, and the services rendered to the Muslim community remain a mystery. This self-declared so-called Muslim leader has never stood for the welfare of the community and always merchandised the Muslims for personal gains. His Father-in-Law was once an Ambassador of Sri Lanka and on another occasion he was an appointed MP. Was the Muslim community so bankrupt of eminent persons making his Father-in-Law as the only one fit to hold these posts? There is historical evidence that Muslim leaders of the bygone era, such as Khaliph Omar abstained from using treasury funds even to light a lamp in his residence. When the terrorists ceased the Mawil Aru anicut and invaded Muttur, Muslims were forced to leave the area under the harassment of the terrorists. Ven, Athuraliye Rathana Thero after leading protests in the area against these LTTE atrocities addressing a press conference in Colombo said that it was a pity to find Rauf Hakeem remaining blind to the killings of Muttur by the terrorist. Ven. Dr. Ellawala Medhananda Thera lashed out at the UNP and the SLMC for failing to help people affected by the LTTE attacks. Due to swift action taken by the government another possible catastrophe of what happened in the North in 1990 was averted and the Muslims were resettled in their original habitations in Muttur in 44 days. Even on moral grounds Racist Hakeem has only brought utter shame for the Muslims. His mentor Ranil Wickremasinghe’s new found ally Mangala Samaraweera’s allegation about Mary Cooray cannot be simply discarded as she being an educated lady, and the daughter of a former MP will not jump into Hakeem’s residential compound and self-immolate by setting fire to herself if there was no such relationship between them. Stance taken by him at last year’s budget voting totally exposed his nakedness on integrity. He voted for the budget in the 2nd reading and between the 2nd reading and the 3rd reading, within a few days, the government became anti-Muslim for him, making him vote against the budget in the 3rd reading. Intelligent and politically matured Sri Lankans need not be told what lured this hypocrite ‘Karanam Pappa” to vote against the budget. President Rajapakse should be commended for standing firm without getting intimidated by this racist politician but he should have sacked him when he expressed sympathy to Tamilselvan when this terrorist was murdered. While claiming that he entered the fray to protect Muslim interests, he has exposed his hypocrisy that he is only endeavouring to implement the terrorist agenda, to remerge East with the Northern Province, and reverse the liberation of the Eastern province, riding the elephant for the tigers. Most of the Tamil candidates fielded in the UNP list are known TNA representatives and tiger terrorist errands. It is reported that TNA MPs are making frantic appeals to prominent Tamils in the Eastern Province to extend their wholehearted support to Hakeem and his candidates. This hypocrite politician has told Lakdiva (13th April) that he has come to the East this time to protect the lost democratic rights and voting rights of the Tamil People. Can a Muslim extend his support to this hypocrite who is striving to protect the scoundrels who carried out grotesque killing and murders of Muslims listed below: Killed 16 Muslims at Sittaru, Kantalai on 05.03.88
