There is a very old Tamil saying which tells - "Kanaala parpathum
poi. Kaadaala keitpathum poi. Theera vesaarichchu arivathey mei".
(Literal translation: What you see can be false. What you hear can be
false. Probing and finding the details and facts will enlighten you
with TRUTH.).
In the context of abductions in Sri Lanka and the hue and cry made by
the Opposition leader Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe and the UNP's loud mouth
politicians the like of Kreilla, Ravi Karunanayake, and Lakshman Seneviratne
about the White Van incidents and abductions, the UNP conspiracy came
to open coolly on Tuesday July the 29th. The mission to expose the innocent
Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the man behind the abductions
thoroughly failed. The alert Naval Officer's call unraveled the conspiracy
to the Nation and the world - the mysteries of the dreadful White Van
scenarios. The Leader of the Opposition Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe and
the UNP have failed in their mission to fulfill the abduction drama
through their MSD security officers, the security personnel provided
by the defence establishment of which the administrative head is Gotabaya
Rajapaksa himself.
The alert Naval Officer's call brought the police to the restaurant
where the abduction drama conspiracy was staged, within a few minutes.
According to the police sources the suspects include two police personnel
of Ministerial Security Division (MSD) and two civilians having close
connections with the opposition party politicians. The Colombo Crime
Division on Saturday August the 3rd., arrested two Ministerial Security
Division personnel assigned to Opposition and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe
and UNP MP Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, for having extorted money from civilians
and for shouting loudly that they were "men of Gotabaya Rajapaksa"
and also for robbing Rs.11,500 rupees from the cashier and for having
terrorized the guests with a branded pistol.
MP Kariyawasam admitted that the constable under custody has been assigned
to him. "Our party has nothing to do with this. The police constable
was on leave when the said incident took place," the UNP MP has
claimed. Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe has still not made any public statements
about the arrests. The leader of the opposition's silence can be understood
- Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe and the UNP should be ashamed. The White
Van Death Squad has exposed them.
Was Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, revealing some startling
information to all of us, including the INGO's, NGO's, Human Right's
Watch, Amnesty International, UNHCHR and the EU Human Rights Institutions
that the UNP and the Opposition had attempted to create a white van
terror and put the blame on the government. "Their plan has backfired
on them," The International Organizations and all concerned now
have evidence to believe that some policemen had been used by the Opposition
to destroy the Defence Secretary's image. Further inquiries will reveal
more of the truth to come.
It is time that all concerned Sri Lankan citizens, irrespective of
political idealogy, ethnic background or religion should join hands
to stop any hidden political force who attempt to destroy the image
of an individual citizen of Sri Lanka, what ever or whoever he may be.
National political UNP leaders like the late Hon. Ananda Tissa De Alwis
stood up in the floor of the parliament in 1980 to denounce one of the
then giants of the UNP, the late Hon. R. Premadasa MP (later HE. President)
for making rash statements in the floor of the house concerning the
womanhood of the late Hon. Srimavo R.D.Bandaranaike which amounted to
destroying the image of the first women PM in the world. If that be
so, we too should follow in the footsteps of our political mentors to
stand up and defend the good image of an individual when attempts are
being made to destroy it.
Let this incident be an eye opener to the International Community of
how the opposition groups work in Sri Lankan to win their sympathy in
order to destroy a democratic Nation striving to become PEACEFULL.
