SUBRAMANIYAN SWAMY DEMANDS DISMISSAL OF TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT AS CHENNAI POLICE MAKES MORE LTTE ARRESTSBy Rangajeeva RajakarunaAs the investigation into the alleged LTTE conspiracy to kill in India
further deepened in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu Indias
Janata Party leader Subramaniyan Swamy demanded New Delhi should dismiss
the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)provincial government in Chennai
for its soft attitude for the Sri Lankan terrorist group. The DMK government is headed by Chief Minister Muthuvel Karunanidhi.
To serve its own purposes the DMK administration has been supporting
the cause of the Tamil Tigers to create a separate state in Sri Lanka,
Swamy alleged during a press conference in Chennai. Chennai Police meanwhile arrested two more people in connection with
the alleged LTTE conspiracy in which a man described as an LTTE intelligence
operative and seven others who are alleged to have been following the
activities of the Sri Lankan Minister Douglas Devananda , who comes
to Chennai often with the intention of killing him. The two people newly arrested , according to the Q Branch the
branch of the Tamil Nadu Police which investigates into terrorist activities-are
also connected with the alleged LTTE Tamil Nadu intelligence man and
seven more people who had been taken into custody earlier. The two newly
arrested were allegedly supporting the people who were arrested earlier
for gathering information and procuring arms for the LTTE. The newly arrested two, Selvaraj (60) a native of Kumakonam currently
working at a sweet mart in Mumbai and Dileeepan (23) from the Mottamalai
refugee camp in Virudhungur have been taken into custody on a confession
made by the earlier arrested LTTE intelligence man. The intelligence
man ,Thambidurai Paremeshwaran , was detained on January 16 . In addition of procuring iron balls , which are heavily used for the
LTTE claymore mines the operatives were gathering information of the
movements of Sri Lankas cabinet minister Douglas devananda and
former Chief Minister Vardaraja Perumal , two politicians, whose names
are on a hit list of the terrorist group. Devananda has survived many
attempts made on his life. According to reports , Selvaraj had been lured into the buying of iron
balls by the intelligence operative Thambidurai Parameshwaran for a
heavy price. |
