Irene Khan with Amnesia.L. PeirisIrene Khan has been silent since injuring her mouth by trying to play balls at the last world cup. Now that it has healed she is trying once again, to bounce back like a ball. As defence spokesman, Keheliya Rambukwella has said Amnesty International is biased Irene Khans statement that "Amnesty International's role is to monitor and report on human rights abuses by all parties to the conflict" is in itself biased. When AI shows no respect to the legally elected democratic government of Sri Lanka by comparing the sovereign nations government and a bunch of suicide bombing murderous LTTE terrorists as "parties" to a conflict. Does AI expect the GoSL to give an organisation like AI any respect? The GoSL does not consider AI worthy of access to Sri Lanka. AI statement on February 4, 2008 "Sri Lanka: Right to life of civilians disregarded as conflict intensifies. "The situation in Sri Lanka has deteriorated and both the government and the LTTE stand accused of serious human rights abuses. All parties should immediately stop targeting civilians and uphold their commitments to international human rights law." Ms Kahn, AI made several statements condemning the targeting of civilians but why was it necessary to involve the government when the culprits for the massacre of civilians were the LTTE terrorists. AI talks of Human Rights, Human Rights and Human Rights!!!!!!!!!!! Where are the human rights of people blown to pieces by suicide murderers, the human rights of Tamil people held subjugated, the underage children abducted and forced into the conflict! The human rights of 20 million Sri Lankans living in the midst of terrorism! The LTTE has carried out these atrocities for the past 2/3 decades and what has AI and other human right activists done, except write reports and earn money. Irene Khan you have chosen the best industry at the moment to make
the quick buck but dont try to justify your bank balance by making
rabid comments. Earn your money and fade away like all your predecessors |
