JVP Secretary Has No Right
To Make Contentious Accusations Against The Rajapaksha Administration
With No Tangible Evidence!

At a time in Sri Lanka when the push towards National Unity is imperative
it appears as though The JVP has taken on the mantle of rabble rousing
and inciting public dissent against the one source they should try to
find common ground with rather than create hurdles for! This is with
direct reference to the JVP Secretary Tilvin Silva alleging that the
ruling UPFA, in a so called 'state of infuriation' after 'confidential
surveys' has indicated certain defeat at upcoming Provincial Polls,
by having 'let loose' the worst form of violence to gain victory by
any means.
Such statements while they do not undermine the Rajapaksha Administration's
credibility in the eyes of the voting public per se, merely expresses
the high handed mentality of the JVP who are indeed the disgruntled
lot within the political climate of Sri Lanka appearing to be in a state
of confusion and apparent inertia relative to the insecurities they
have within their party and are the more likely source to incite violence
and aggression within the Nation given their history and should adopt
a more diplomatic attitude when it comes to how they relate to the Rajapaksha
Administration which has been quite lenient and tolerant towards their
unwarranted approach to undermine it.They should also tone down their
aggressive rhetoric against the Administration in their best interests
as observers of importance may begin to notice and respond accordingly!
It may be easy for individuals such as JVP Secretary Tilvyn Silva to
make allegations and accusation at media briefings such as that attended
by party MPs Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Lakshman Nipunarachchi where
he has boldly stated that "The Government is increasing its violence
by the day. It has now stripped off its democratic attire and taken
up violence. The Government is setting fire to opposition offices and
preventing votes against it. We request the Elections Commissioner to
deploy the Armed Forces to curb this violence. " which not only
sounds ignorant, apathetic and frustration motivated but also dangerous
as it daringly and contentiously makes libellous statements against
the credibilities of the ruling party with no tangible evidence to substantiate
them and place themselves open to any punitive action the Government
might decide to take against them perhaps deservedly so! It is the Government's
right right to deploy the Armed Forces at a time which necessitates
it and not as a response to the whims and fancies of a group of disgruntled
politicians when things aren't exactly working in their best interests
as opposed to those of the Nation!
The Rajapaksha Administration viewed by a vast majority of Sri Lankans
as well as many powrful allies worldwide as one which has done more
good to the Nation of Sri Lanka than the JVP of yore which also tried
to bring the Nation to its knees in the not too distant past unsuccesfully
in case this has been forgotten. The JVP constantly needs to be reminded
that although some political analysts beleive they are considered kingmakers
in a manner of speaking, they cannot take that to heart overly or assume
Carte Blanche to denigrate the Government in the face of an impending
Provincial Election and all the good they might represent to the Nation
of Sri Lanka may be awash in a single wave of insecurity and unwarranted
accusations as opinions against their motivations and intents could
easily be swayed within an environment of huge adulation for President
Rajapaksha. This should also go out as a loud and clear message to the
Leader of the Opposition Ranil Wickremasinghe who often parleys in the
same mode with the intention of inciting dissent within the Nation albeit
unsuccesfully!
JVP Secretary Silva has also made bold accusations that there was 'information'
that the present regime has now resorted to printing bogus ballot papers
and identity cards and other malpractices, something which he and his
allies within the party need to be taken to task for if they cannot
substantiate the accusations vis A vis statements such as "This
is a very serious situation. All democratic forces should unite and
ensure a free and fair election and the people's right to vote. We request
all voters, irrespective of their political differences, to exercise
their right and we ask authorities to pave the way for the people to
demonstrate their judgment." which sound very empathetic towards
the legitimacies and conduct of the Provincial Elections but dangerously
inciting if they are intended to serve the personal objectives of a
joint effort by all opposition parties as well as those of the JVP to
undermine the Administration.
Mr. Silva has suggested that the JVP would fully support efforts for
a free and fair election in two days' time which is all well and good,
yet there is ominous sounding rhetoric of suggestion in his media address
that the Administration is not legit towards fair and free elections,
should govern himself accordingly or face the consequences of libel
and perhaps even impeachment!
