AN OPEN LETTER TO HON. RAUF HAKEEM, LEADER - SRI LANKA MUSLIM CONGRESS (SLMC).

Dear Hon. Rauf Hakeem,

SLMC should accept the invitation extended by Hon. Basil Rajapaksa and JOIN/partner with the SLFP to contest the PC elections.

My stand on the PC elections was that the SLMC should go it alone/solo. I had spoken to Hon. Hassanlai, the Secretary General of the party many time by phone, even today, and written to him on this too please.
But, considering the feelings of the LTTE and a wish by them to come back to the discussion table, my stand is that the future of Governance of the Eastern Province should be truly representative of the "PEOPLES WILL" and the "RESPECT" of the "RULE OF LAW". The center or the Executive Powers of the President should NOT hinder the "move forward" as needed by the will of the people after the PC elections.

The SLMC-Government/SLFP coalition should assure that a bridge of political communication will be build with the LTTE through this arrangements and that the LTTE should be given an opportunity to "TASTE PEACE". If the former UNP and SLFP governments and the then Security Forces can forgive and forget the militancy and atrocities of the JVP and the DJV, then the SLMC should use this opportunity to help the MR Government, Hon. Basil Rajapaksa and the Security forces to give that same opportunity to the LTTE too.

The Muslims of the Eastern Province/North Eastern Province have legitimate "RIGHT" to share "Democratic Governance" in the East. The SLMC is the "Representative brokerage party" of the Muslims in the North Eastern Province/Eastern Province, a people who belong to the "Tamil Speaking Minority Community". As a humble representative of the nearly 10,000 Muslims voters from Pullmodai, Poddavakattu, Nilaveli, Kutchveli (Trinco town proper) Naachikkuda to Mutur, Thoppur, Selvanagar up to the 56th mile post via Thampalakaamam, Kantalai, KINNIYA which the late Ehuthar Hajiar and Mohamed Ali/Maharoof family still have a say and political influence over and I having the opportunity to have been a district organizer of the SLFP and till recently as the Deputy District Organizer - Trincomalee District of the SLMC, I strongly believe that you Sir, as the Leader of the SLMC and Hon. Hassanali as the General Secretary and the SLMC should accept the invitation extended by Hon. Basil Rajapaksa and JOIN/partner with the SLFP to contest the PC elections. I am confident that you will have a overwhelming support from the rank and file of the party membership in this endevaour, Insha Allah.

I am sure that the SLMC/SLFP coalition will sweep the polls in the North Eastern and Eastern Province if that will be done, Insha Allah.

THE SLMC should not fail the Muslims of the East by default on this matter please.
