Canada - top cash source for Tamil TigersAsoka Weerasinghe Kings Grove Crescent . Gloucester . Ontario . CanadaSeptember 23, 2008 The Editor (Letters) Sir: Re: Sri Lanka, Canada cited as top Tiger cash source. It was only after the Conservatives came to power in 2006 that Sri Lankas population were given some respite when the Tamil Tigers were banned, and criminalizing them raising funds under Canadas Anti-Terrorism Laws. Further, I am almost sure that every Sri Lankan who got into the habit of making the sign of the cross or putting their palms together in prayer when they got into a bus, wanting to arrive in one piece at the end of their destination without being bombed by the Tamil Tigers, is thankful to the Harper Government for assuring them of their right-to-their-life. And further for taking extra measures to block the World Tamil Movement (WTM) based in Toronto by imposing a ban on them too to continue raising funds as well as transferring funds to the Tamil Tiger coffers which was glorifying terrorism. That indeed was the difference for Sri Lanka when Canada was ruled by the Liberals and Conservatives. The Liberals let the Sri Lankan people die at the hands of the Tamil Tigers, and the Conservatives prevented the Tamil Tigers snuff out the lives of innocent citizens of Sri Lanka. Asoka Weerasinghe
