"Prabhakaran Must Give Up Demand For Separate Tamil State" Says US Where Realistically There Is No Need For Such A Demand Anymore!

The recent ( PTI) Times of India Bulletin reports that "The US has asked LTTE 'supremo' Velupillai Prabhakaran to give up the 'demand' for a separate Tamil State saying the community wanted a solution to the three decades old ethnic conflict within a "united" Sri Lanka." However, it has to be outlined emphatically that neither is Prabhakaran ' Supremo', a term reserved for a brave leader not a coward who hides in bunkers in an attempt to save his own hide and often uses innocent civilian s as a protective shield nor is he a representative of the Tamils of Sri Lanka another confirmable fallacy which his aides sometimes portray erroneously to the world !

Even the bravado of the putrid German megalomaniac and mass murderer Hitler was reduced to hiding in a bunker when his end came and more than likely what awaits Prabhakaran where there will be no negotiating with him now that an heir apparent to the Tamil leadership has emerged in the form of Mr Pillayan of the TMVP whose credibilities and leadership qualities are fast emerging as Nation friendly.

The US Ambassador's suggestion in this respect while arousing curiousities is a voice well known to Sri Lanka for past unwelcome comments made about the Sri Lankan State where it has been said with a surprisingly noticable change of sentiment that"...I think it would be very useful for Prabhakaran to give up this idea of seeking an independent Tamil state and agreeing to negotiate with a united Sri Lanka," suggesting that US ambassador to Sri Lanka Robert Blake seems to be attempting to atone for some of his seedier comments about the Sri Lankan Administration sometime back which makes many wonder why he seems to have softened his stance on an issue over which he made some unwelcome comments in the past whether inadvertently or not but his present statements a welcome change indeed!.

In what appears to be the aftermath of some deep soul searching Mr.Blake has said that "from his discussions with Tamil people in Sri Lanka, he thinks 95 per cent of them support a solution within a framework of a united Sri Lanka" something which was known to many, both within Sri Lanka as well as globally and coming from Mr Blake seems to be an affirmation that this is the opinion of many in the USA also which nonetheless is heartwarming. Perhaps the catalyst which has prompted the US to affirm their support of Sri Lanka's war against the Tamil terrorists made public just a few days ago!

That "They (the Tamil people) are not seeking an independent Tamil 'Eelam' which Prabhakaran is seeking," which Blake has said to the Sunday Observer Newspaper seems more of a reluctant admission to what has changed from devastating attrocities by the Tamil Tigers who once attempted to overpower the Nation of Sri Lanka and thwarted by the crushing retaliatory firepower of the Armed Forces which they never foresaw and the direct result of Governmental response to the murder, mayhem and wanton destruction in Sri Lanka which was perpetrated for decades and perhaps Mr Blake should have emphasized this to the Tamil Diaspora around the world as well as all the LTTE propagandists, some who still maintain they are winning the 'War' somewhat deludedly whle they are in reality running rather than winning!!

The US envoy has made a somewhat obvious statement that Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims have been living together in a peaceful manner in the country for centuries that is until the Tamil Tigers and their diaspora string pullers appeared on the scene attempting to carve out a slice for themselves. Mr Blake must also be commended on his magnamity of observation where he says "I always remind people who are visiting from US that Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims lived together and continue to live peacefully together. Tamils are living in Colombo peacefully with their Sinhalese and Muslim friends. So there is no ethnic conflict here. And certainly the Government is defending itself against terrorism.The US believes that the answer to the conflict lies with a power sharing concept which can respond to the aspirations of Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims which was a variation of the theme where he sounded distinctly like a Tamil Tiger sycophant a few months earlier but relenting is better late than never as the saying goes to which Sri lanka says Well Done Mr. Blake!

Unfortunately Mr. Blake has made a speculative Faux Pas in saying that " giving up the idea of a separate state, would give Prabhakaran "lots of credibility to respond to lots of skepticism here in the South of Sri Lanka that the LTTE would never negotiate with the government." it seems somewhat rhetorical and unsubstantiable from a Sri Lankan Government's standpoint as regardless of what Prabhakaran does or says it will not give him any credibility and the quip about the LTTE negotiating with the Government perhaps somewhat tongue in cheek on the part of Mr.Blake as Prabhakaran is Sri Lanka's public enemy No1 and the Tamil Tigers are on a schedule for elimination!

It has however made refreshing reading!
