Noritake Lanka Porcelain, which produces table ware, for the most distinguished dinning tables across the globe has added to its collection bone china tableware of the highest quality available anywhere in the world, ceramic experts said.

As the new addition to its production line is so good to serve a meal fit for a king, Mr.Motoyasu Nakanishi, Deputy Chairman of Noritake handed over the first set of bone China Porcelain table ware set to President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Temple Trees, official residence of the President , February 28.

The thirty five year old Sri Lanka - Japanese company combines a century old Noritake tradition with the local Sri Lankan talent in producing white porcelain and fine china table ware until it added the bone china category this month.

Bone china got its name from the ox bone ash that was mixed to it when it was first produced in Great Britain by Thomas Frye in 1748. In the late 18th century Josiah Spode developed it further by mixing it with Kaolin and China stone.

Bone china is characterized by high whiteness, translucency and strength. Production, experts say, usually involves a two stage firing where the first, bisque, is without a glaze at 1280 °C (2336 °F), which gives a translucent product and then glaze, or glost, fired at a lower temperature below 1080 °C (1976 °F).

Noritake Lanka said , since 1972, with a chosen hard working team of experts and management, they have developed rapidly both in exporting and local sales, establishing a well known name and bond with their customers. “Today,” the company said, “ we lead as Sri Lanka's best in the tabletop industry, proving unmatched quality and durability trough 30 year of service and technological development. During this process we certainly haven't forgotten the traditional Hand painted ornaments and masterpieces which were admired and adorned in many homes and workplaces throughout the world and we dedicate a specially trained staff of talented artists to create and produce artistic hand paintings on various ceramic bodies, shapes & sizes.”

The company further said, it was founder of NORITAKE, Baron Ichizaemon Morimura who established his dream of bringing the world closer by introducing the finest crafted tableware in the world. Starting from New York he established the business in many countries. The founder's philosophy was to be happy and prosperous together with other people around the globe, the statement added.
