Protest Rally At UN Against 'SL Genocide' As Presented By Tamilnet A Fabrication Of Realities

Insight By Sunil Kumar For LankaWeb

Sept.26th 2008
This item carries no credibility beyond the cheap sensationalism it portrays as firstly Tamilnet is a pro Liberatiion Tiger(terrorist) website with little or no capacity towards reporting impartially on the true situation in Sri Lanka as it is a pro LTTE website! It is indeed an an attempt to draw the attention of the United Nations for all the wrong reasons by finger pointing at the Sri Lankan Administration of Mahinda Rajapaksha who together with his adminstration and Armed Foces are the true liberators of Sri Lanka from the terrorist menace which has plagued the Nation for decades where the end to the terrorist problem is finally in sight.

It is a hard fact of life towards acceptance for all the terrorist supportives around the world who have tried in vain to fund and support terrorism in Sri lanka and failed miserably and now their frustrations and anguish are showing! It is rational inference then what follows, that when over 1,000 American and Canadian Tamils and "friends of Tamils" protested in front of the UN Headquarters in New York on September 24th as reported on ‘Tamilnet’ it was a wasted effort where the only interpretation which could be logically made is that it was a protestation in anticipation of the end being in sight for what has been globally condemned as illegal, unacceptable and criminal by many viable sources including the superpower nations.Namely the continued existence of the Tamil Tigers in their terrorist guise.

To denoune the visit to the UN by Sri Lankan President, Mahinda Rajapaksa seems high ignorance and apathy on the part of those involved and the 'sanctions' the protestors demanded and advocated against Sri Lanka citing the Principle of Responsibility to Protect as a means to halt what the protesters alleged ‘genocide of Tamils’ is a load of innuiendo laced exaggerations with high faluting expressions and little or nothing to substantiate them! The Principle of Responsibility to protect and the term" genocide of Tamils" are two issues the terrorists and their supportives should study in depth towards their applicability in the context alluded to and towards avoiding the coinage of the term ignorance is bliss where neither the Principle of Responsibility nor the 'genocide of Tamils' are realistic terms applicable in Sri Lanka towards Governmental Liability although they would very well serve the LTTE and their supportive as well as being applied to them as their track record has proved not for a mere day, week, month or year but for almost four decades!

Perhaps the meaningless chants of the protesters yelling "Rajapaksa, don't come to the UN, go to The Hague." could have been reversed to sound more like "Rajapaksha has a rightful presence in the UN and Prabhakaran if captured alive hopefully needs to be despatched to the Hague to be tried for crimes against humanity!where indeed a modest semblance of which was demonstrated by the small gathering of Government supporters and Buddhist monks and all kudos to them for their courage!

And regarding the protestor's petion presented to the UN notwithstanding petitions being a democratic right of the individual to appeal any legitimate issue, the one said to have been signed by the rally attendees addressed to Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and handed over to the UN perhaps deserving a trash bin deposit as the protest was one made against a democratically elected head of state within the UN Charter albeit submitted by terrorist supportives!.

This on the basis that this appeal which suggests that the Sri Lankan Government has abdicated its responsibility to the Tamil inhabitants of the Island and the international community embodied in the UN must begin to enact its ideals for the unilateral protection of the vulnerable Tamil people, is based upon innuendo, fabrications and concocted to suit the occassion of the protest and no more and something which the terrorist supportives from time to time use without much success towards bringing disrepute to a perfectly reasonable and just Administration which has neither sequesterd no isolated freedom loving non terrorist supportive Tamils within Sri Lanka and an indisputable reality.

This petition which also proposed possible action by the UN such as sending an independent monitor from the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, setting up internationally supervised safe havens for civilians in active conflict zones, a total ban on military aid to Sri Lanka, prosecution of the individuals in the Sri Lankan Government and its Armed Forces for 'ethnic cleansing, crimes against humanity and genocide' on the island, and arranging for a special session on Sri Lanka has so much falsified rhetoric as well as unmitigated paranoia intended to mislead the international community that it needs to be cited as an example of how not to present a case for the prosecution as it often backfires on those presenting it as the discredit eventually falls on them on the simple basis of falsification and distortion of facts on the premise of premeditated bias in favour of the LTTE.

About 20 Sri Lankan government supporters, including Buddhist monks, showed up briefly for a counter protest, which has to be the true cynosure of this protest as their's is the only legitimate presentation, of the issues that were distortedly portrayed to the world by their pro LTTE opposite camp!
